My wife had a buttered biscuit, hash brown, and hot tea. I had the bacon and egg biscuit and a hashbrown. The hash browns were good. The biscuits were great. We would return without hesitation.

This is the OG breakfast biscuit joint in Chapel Hill (with props to Time Out for late-night chicken biscuits). The menu is surprisingly varied and includes pork chop biscuits, steak biscuits, sandwiches, burgers, combos and more. But it's the variations of egg and cheese breakfast...biscuits that are their bread and butter. You'll usually see a line of cars but it moves rather quickly. It's drive-through only so social distancing is the norm.More

Sunrise is famous for their chicken biscuits for good reason. They are amazing! Quite possibly the best chicken we've ever had. Their other biscuits are good too if you're not a chicken biscuit kind of person.

We found this place online while waiting for a family member at the Amblutory center. We road over and looked at their menu board and once we ordered they had our food ready almost as soon as we got to the drive-through. As we were...going around the building when driving in one of the cooks waved at us. The people were friendly and service was fast. I had "the Grandpa". I got coffee to drink. The coffee was decent. The hash brown was quite greasy and a little mushy so that wasn't my favorite. The biscuit was very good. The biscuit portion was fresh and had a good texture. Definitely homemade. Their was a good portion of eggs and bacon which all tasted good and the real cheddar cheese was great. The star on my biscuit was the chicken. It was breaded and had a great flavor. The spices they use were great. If I am ever around to go back I would probably just get a chicken biscuit next time. Overall I would certainly recommend this place for a quick bite for breakfast. Note they are drive-through only. This is not a sit down place.More

I’ve never had a problem at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen until today. The food is always great! But the lady at the window needs to lose the attitude. She got my order wrong and gave me an attitude about it. I was more than willing to...pay for the part of the order that she obviously did not hear, but seriously check your attitude at the door!More

This little biscuit shack on Franklin Street creates the most amazing biscuits in town, hands down! All you have to do is drive by any morning, especially on weekends and there is a long line of eager customers patiently waiting for their turn to order.

Most local towns and cities (if they are lucky) have that "one place" you've got to try. For Chapel Hill, it is Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen. It is just a small little building in the center of a parking lot. There is no indoor seating (that...I am aware of). You pull in, drive around to the drive-through, order and you are on your way. The place started in 1978 in Louisburg, NC. The staff is always super nice and friendly. I have never had their lunch. But, mornings, I drive up and order a combo...a biscuit, a hash brown, and coffee. The prices are very reasonable. I believe the combo costs around $6.50. The biscuits are made fresh daily. I just think it is a very pleasant place to stop by before I start my morning. Highly recommend.More

This is not going to be a popular review, but it reflects what my wife and I had there at Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen (SBK). While visiting for 5-days, this is a place I found on trip advisor and could not wait to try. I can...see how this could be a place that people have been visiting for a long time and is a cult classic to them. Like a lot of people note, it is drive thru only which I thought was a cool feature and should have allowed them to focus just on their food and not having to serve and clean up a sit-down dining area. We wanted to try a wide sample of what was offered, my wife had a chicken biscuit with a side of gravy. I had the bad grampa (it is how it is spelled on the menu) combo and their “new” apple fritter. Once we received our food, we drove away and ate about a block away, so the food was consumed in our vehicle about as close as you could get to SBK. The bad: Both of our biscuits were very dry. The gravy while looking like it had sausage had zero flavor and was like eating watered down flour. The hash browns with my combo were very greasy and not even warm, it was as if they had been sitting for a long period of time waiting on someone to order them. Unfortunately for us, it seemed the only seasoning used here was salt, which is all we could taste, a shame because as well as the chicken was cooked, it lacked flavor. Last for my drink combo I had a tea/lemonade mix, it has a strong after taste similar to where it was stored had not been cleaned recently. The good: While it was not good enough for me to try again even if I wanted to return, the apple fritter was “warm” which is more than I could say for the hash browns. The chicken on both biscuits were real chicken breasts, hot and moist so they were cooked well. Being from outside the area, we felt at the time we purchased that $25 for that amount of food was very reasonable. I will admit part of our issue might have been that we visited around 130 PM, just an hour before closing. However, if you are going to be open and serving food, it is still a reflection of you and your establishment and this was a poor showing. Looking at other reviews, maybe we caught them on a bad day, but that one day was enough to make two people not want to return for a second try.More

It is less than 3 miles - left on MLK, left on North Estes and right on Franklin. Sunrise will be about 100 yds on the right
