This is the best place in Chapel hill to meet visiting friends from out of town. The Chef James is one of the top chefs in the region and I think he is due for a James Beard nod soon. He is the best in the city in preparing fish. I have been present when his supply comes in. He... More

My husband and I went to lunch at the Crossroads. We just moved into town and we love historic buildings so the Carolina Inn appealed to us. We were very disappointed with the lunch. The bread basket contained bread that small golf balls and when we bit into them, much to our surprise, they were spicy. I asked if there... More

When I reserved at the Crossroads, I hadn't realized that it was located in the Carolina Inn. As we arrived, and I realized that it was, my heart dropped. I was raised in the area in the 50s and 60s, and had attended dinners at the Carolina Inn on a couple of occasions as a child. My memories of the... More

This is our third (and final) visit to Carolina Inn for our final high school graduation lunch. We had our five immediate family members coming in from New Orleans and Denver, three relatives from Ohio, and a friend from Rocky Mount, NC. The restaurant has been renovated since 2013.We had good service, not rushed, but we weren't in a rush.... More

Food was good but remotely southern. Service was excellent. I must agree the decor does not match the rest of the hotel . I can give you a "5" if you will just add a "Carolina Southern Special" to the menu! Our relatives from California who are also UNC graduates were disappointed.

Went there for my anniversary and I was extremely disappointed. I was married at the Carolina Inn and I can honestly say I will never eat dinner there again. The food along with the ambiance is a joke. I feel like I should have been in a barn eating dinner (clearly being dramatic but compared to what it was before... More

I've always felt that the food & service at Crossroads weren't that great; you went for the atmosphere & experience with friends more than for the food. Now that they've renovated it so that it doesn't match the rest of the historic inn, and looks more like an Aloft hotel, I really don't see any reason to return. Many connected... More

We are sorry that the new Crossroads Chapel Hill ambiance and décor does not meet your personal style preference. The new interior continues to showcase many of its historical and traditional influences with features such as the original fireplaces, moldings, artwork and windows but also blends in contemporary influences for a more casually elegant blended atmosphere. The new space overall... More

What was once a special place has been gutted and revamped to better compete with Hampton Inns and Holiday Inn Express. See my previous review from two years ago regarding how it used to be. Gone is the elegant formal dining room boasting comfortable and intimate seating with excellent service to boot. Gone is the separate genteel bar with warm... More

The Crossroads Restaurant and Bar at the historic Carolina Inn has undergone a complete renovation. Very well done with indoor and outdoor dining. The Carolina Inn is on North Columbia Street directly across from the UNC campus and only a block from Franklin Street. The new menu is loaded with North Carolina specialties including pork tenderloin, shrimp and grits as... More

The restaurant is pretty, great service, and the food was also great. We (two of us) ordered five small plates to share plus a dessert, and we really enjoyed each plate. But we almost wished we had ordered one plate less because their biscuits served with butter and local honey were so good that we wanted to be able to... More
