Really wanted to like this place...but it was exceedingly average. The place has a very interesting history and cool story but the food was underwhelming. Waffles were normal, grits were below average (sticky/gluey), omelette was dry and bacon tasted bad...like liquid smoke. Wish this place was better...but we won't be back.

Ye Olde Waffle Shop is ALWAYS worth the wait. It is a perfect atmosphere, and nothing can top the waffles-- perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Not to mention, they have classic diner foods (eggs, bacon, etc) that are delicious. This is a place every UNC student should visit.

Had breakfast here and the place is very good. Cozy friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices decent portions and the quality of the food is very. The staff is one of the issues that surprised me positively the most: they are very good. I would certainly recommend it

Recently stopped in before a Carolina game. This hole-in-the-wall of a place offers delicious food in a homey atmosphere. With little seating, just be prepared to wait for a table (the nice staff will tell you it's a five-minute wait, but it's more like 15-20 minutes). However, well worth the wait! After being seated, service is quick! Waffles are a... More

Ye Olde Waffle Shop opened when I was a student in the early 1970's and now only is it still going but going great. Breakfast made to order, eggs any way you like, bacon, sausage, biscuits, pancakes (with m&m's if you want!) and of course waffles. Good coffee, good service and good prices. We went back twice for breakfast.

a local concierge recommended this to me--when I said I love a cooked and creative breakfast when I was in CH---so I went It was ok--the omelet was exactly as I asked for---a little over done--but no problem. That happens always. I asked for one item #2---and I asked for some salsa from another item #6---the server said ok--so I... More

This is a cute restaurant in downtown Chapel Hill that serves typical diner food but has exceptional waffles. It hurts me to say this.. Better than Waffle House. Wait, whah?!.. The staff is friendly and efficient. Not too expensive. Definitely worth a visit but you gotta try a waffle.

I had a blueberry waffle with powdered sugar on top and it was fantastic! My suggestion would be to get there early due to the limited seating available. We got there right at 8:00 a.m. and got a table as soon as we walked in. However it was starting to get crowded as we were leaving.

Finally stopped into the Ye Olde Waffle Shop after years of talking about it. I ordered the pecan waffle with a scrambled egg and sausage and my wife got the egg with sausage, hash browns and a biscuit. Everything was pretty good. Solid diner fare. The pecan waffle had a lot of pecans which was a great thing. You won't... More

They have several surprises at this local gem. First of all, be prepared to wait. The food is sensational and the restaurant is tiny, so it stays jam packed with people. Their service is super fast once you get seated. They are definitely worth the wait. The staff is friendly, so once people fill up, they are really in no... More
