This place is tiny, and off to itself. The building is nothing special. But the service is very friendly, and the barbecue has very, very good flavor. You can really taste the wood smoke in the meat. The slaw is nice, and the hush puppies are good as well. I wish I cold give them a 4.5, but could not.... More

Good service and quality NC eastern style BBQ. This restaurant is easy go get to, has a diverse menu and is a good value. Great place for lunch or dinner.

This place is considered the best "locals" BB Que place in Chapel Hill. They make a huge barbeque sandwich with slaw on it that is more than a man can eat. We get the take out about once a month. It is just good basic food, nothing fancy. I really doubt if they have Wi-Fi.

Had BBQ sandwich and fries at Allen & Sons BBQ in Chapel Hill. Much of the BBQ was stringy and so tough it was difficult to chew. It had Eastern North Caroluna sauce on it (vinegar and black pepper). The fries appeared hand cut but were greasy. This was my 4th visit in a year and my last. Whoever voted... More

We went here based upon the recommendations of national writers and must say we were disappointed. The building itself is old and not in an antique rustic sort of way. The service was spotty and not very polite - especially from the manager of the establishment in the way she was ordering the staff around. The BBQ and sides, while... More

The waitress was down to earth and friendly. The food was amazing. They do a great vinegar based BBQ. The hush puppies were delicious, and their steak burger was very good. You can even get some traditional sweet tea. The kind you need to chase with a coke a cola to get the sugar taste out of your mouth. I... More

Food wasn't bad. Lots of pork options and the sauce is true to the region, but the service is pretty lousy and surprising not too friendly for a small rural BBQ joint.

Second trip to Chapel Hill and second time to Allen and Son BBQ. It looks like a dive on the inside and out. Wobbly tables, a plethora of wooden and metal chairs, diner style menus. Go right in! You get plates or trays. Go for the plate, (trays are small) unless you are super hungry, then go for the extra... More
