We had three breakfasts in a row here. Great ambiance. Comfy seating in high backed banquettes.Small earthen pots with fresh rosemary. The breakfast menu was awesome! They had avocado bruschetta, ricotta cheese pancakes, brioche french toast, and decadent salmon benedict.Service with a smile. Background music featured Frank Sinatra singing classics like Volare. Did not try the bar but it looked great... More

It's been a few years since we last dined at this restaurant. There has been some renovations in the bar area but the drink selections offered less choices. The main courses of calamari ( great ) and the Sea Bass ( not so great ). Service was friendly but not quite as professional as before. The desserts were outstanding. Would... More

I remember my last visit a few years ago as this elegant white table clothed restaurant that served up first class food in a first class environment. Situated in the Siena Hotel, the restaurant has undergone a trendy renovation and while the food is still spot on, the restaurant has become more casual ( no table cloths) and the service... More

Dined with a friend on 7/2. Lovely, quiet restaurant. Service was outstanding. Our waitress (wish I could recall her name) was very knowledgeable about the menu and and wine and made recommendations. At her suggestion I ordered the grilled swordfish (fresh off the boat from Beaufort NC and very delicious) but I mentioned that the sea bass preparation with capers... More

Went here for a b-day celebration. Saw the menu online and was inspired by the seemingly authentic preparations. We are Italian property owners and spend a bit of time in Italy and we have to say, in our opinion, this was the most authentic Italian mean we have had in NC in our 8 years here. The restaurant is located... More

First visit to Chapel Hill, NC, stayed at this hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed a Saturday evening dinner with family and friends. The service, food and wine were excellent - a great representation of Italian food, prepared as they do in Italy. Everything we ordered was delicious, nothing left on anyone's plate. Will definitely return when we visit again in September!

We had not visited Il Palio since the restaurant renovations, so booked it for our anniversary. We liked the 'open kitchen' concept and less formal environment. Service was very attentive, but not over bearing. Our server David was at the table immediatly after we were seated, followed by the restaurant mgr./sommelier. Both had excellent suggestions concerning the menu offerings as... More

We love this restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. For our first course we had the mussels, the octopus, the fried artichoke, and the lamb meatballs. All were excellent. We then had ravioli, papardelle with bolognese, and a sicilian pasta. One person had a 3rd course of whole fish which was delicious as well. We ended... More

Dined and breakfasted here during a stay at The Siena. Dinner: A wonderful Italian menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. Virtually everything we ate was house made, house cured or house smoked from the pasta to the charcuterie to the strawberry sorbet. The flexible size of the entree servings makes it possible to try any combination of items. Wine list is... More

Given that we were part of a conference group with a private room, I have to say that the food, in terms of variety and taste, and service rose to the level of excellence. The pasta dishes in particular were superbly prepared, but we also had excellent choices of salad, vegetables and secondi piatti. Of the four nights of dining... More
