Il Palio is an intimate restaurant located in the Siena Hotel. We strive to emulate the best of the great Italian tradition of hospitality and quality at the table and in the glass. Our vision is simple - use the best local and Italian ingredients as purely as possible and serve them with comfort and pride. We cook as an Italian might in North Carolina.

Inventive yet traditional Italian menu

Il Palio has a wonderful menu full of both traditional Italian dishes, inventive takes on Italian dishes, and just some very unique offerings. The Chestnut soup was to die for, and the Osso Bucco special using beef cheek could not have been any better. Paired with a very nice selection of Italian wines in keeping with the theme. Well done.

Somewhere in Il Palio there's a great restaurant. If only they'd relax the service and nail the staples. I sampled it twice on consecutive nights, once with friends, once with a larger group and a limited menu. Ambience is wonderful - the noise is moderate and it's easy to talk. If only more restaurants were like this! The wait staff... More

Our bookclub met there. The chestnut soup was delicious and the crab pasta was outstanding. The group was limited to 8 without surcharge (a bit unusual). All and all a great dinner.

This was my first time coming to Il Palio after the remodel. The remodel is remarkable but even more so is the addition of the wood fired grill items to the menu. Chef Teddy Diggs is a genius and is the Best Chef in the US. NC has never had a more talented chef enter its borders before so look... More

5 Stars for the bartender! We had a drink before dining & he was very personable & accommodating. The food in the restaurant was very good for the most part. My son-in-law had the lasagna & it seemed to be extremely heavy on the mushrooms, which made it too rich to finish. Our server was not very attentive, which is... More

Food was fine. The chicken liver crostini and the grilled octopus appetizers were very good. My wife liked the sea bass. Very moist on the inside. My pasta was average. There was no atmosphere and my wife said we should have had trays because it seemed like a cafeteria. By the was, the Palio in Siena is very colorful. No... More

Based in the upscale Sienna Hotel in Chapel Hill, NC, Il Palio offered an attractive four course “Xmas Day Menu” this year. Let it be said at the outset that the service was very courteous and efficient with each server having attentive backup servers; dishes were delivered promptly and every request my wife and I had was knowledgeably addressed. Each... More
