Went here for dinner. Not a plush place, but great food. Had the dumplings and salt and pepper shrimp first. Both wee outstanding. Loved the flash fried cilantro. Main courses were the pork chop which he loved and the smoked chicken which was like Peking duck. Drinks were adequate. All the flavor of the food and quality of the ingredients... More

I was looking forward to eating at Lantern since it was a well-renowned restaurant. I was with a group and we shared appetizers. The dumplings stood out and was very tasty. The others were OK but not memorable. The homemade ginger ale was very good. I had the catfish red curry and that was just OK. For me, the problem... More

I'll state upfront that I know I'm in the minority by posting a negative review of Lantern, but the following review details my first and last experience at Lantern. When I arrived a few minutes early for my reservation, the friendly hostess sat me right away, and things were off to a great start. The server arrived, took my drink... More

Have been to Lantern many times in the past. Recently with a group of four friends to celebrate the return of our friend to the "Southern Part of Heaven". We ordered meat,, fish salads, red wine and white wine. We split two desserts. All was excellent and the service superior. My halibut was, if not close to the best fish... More

We came to North Carolina not knowing what to expect. This was our first meal in the State. We are from Vancouver, BC so we are very used to eating very, very good food. We made a reso and were glad we did. The place was busy!! We ordered appies and entrees: heirloom tomato salad, salmon bento box and crusted shrimp.... More

We love the back bar here. We have never made it to the restaurant as we dig the scene at the back and they make awesome drinks. It's a little more of a local hangout and you meet some interesting people there. Most of the food is available in the back and they are often open to requests.

I went with my boyfriend to the Lantern for New Years and we were excited because it's such a well known exclusive place. I knew the menu was limited because it's supposed to be a choice of the most top notch selections. Both my boyfriend and I couldn't find anything that looked appetizing which is saying slot since we love... More

Excellent food. Awesome combining of Asian flavors using many locally sourced ingredients. This restaurant has been on our must do list for quite sometime. We are sorry we didn't try it earlier. The night we dined it was a full dining room and the garden patio had not opened yet. Even though the room was packed sound levels were acceptable.... More

Asian fusion in a semi-casual setting. The food is superb. Also has one of the best cocktail bars in Chapel Hill. Not inexpensive but worth the money for a special occasion. You have to try Lantern at least once.

Upstairs is a great place to hang out with friends at the bar or a small table for drinks or appetizers. Entrees are great too. Upstairs environment is much different than downstairs.. very intimate!
