Consistently good food every time I go. Great drinks and good atmosphere. The salt and pepper fried shrimp are really good! Different than the normal app. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town.

I'm not sure I can explain just how amazing this experience was. We were staying at The Franklin (review to come) and at the suggestion of a friend, headed out. From the walk in, it was wonderful ! Greeted quickly by our server, he readily brought the wine ordered. At his suggestion , we both ordered the lasagna. Mamma Mia!!!!... More

Good inventive food. Fried okra had Indian flair. So expect spice and not a southern style of cooking. Fried chicken was in an Asian sauce. Delicious but a bit messy Have to be open to experimenting . We tried the salt and pepper shrimp but none of us could eat the shells as suggested by our waiter So the flavor... More

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, but we've tried Lantern five times in the past year. Each time has been worst than the last, but it went from "good" on our first time back in many years to really not good. We kept trying as it was hard to believe that a restaurant as acclaimed as Lantern was really... More

This restaurant specializes in Asian food & is located on W. Franklin St. Food was good but expensive. On the scone floor, it felt closed in because of lack of windows.

This place is really a treat. The food is excellent, fresh, full of flavor. The staff is professional, well-versed in the food and the wine pairings. The room is delightful, with an outdoor terrace as well as an adjacent private room. We loved the menu and the entire evening was really a treat. Highly recommend.

This is an unusual place. The menu is unusual. The decor is unusual. The staff is unusual. That doesn't make it bad, just different. The prices are high and service can be aloof. Once you get past that this is probably the best restaurant in Chapel Hill. The salt and pepper prawns are amazing. Any fish entree (especially the whole... More

Since our daughter stopped working at Lantern about 5 years ago, I think this last visit is the first time we didn't have anything show up "compliments of the kitchen." Only one server seemed to recognize us and she was working the main dining room. Without a reservation, we were seated at a table in the bar. Didn't recognize anyone... More

We attended a wedding dinner and the meal was very good. I had a beef dish which was cooked to perfection over a salty/crispy set of greens with grilled onions. The favor combination was magical. The meal started with a mix of fresh tomatoes, very flavorful. We completed the meal with a lovely almond panna cotta. The service was excellent... More

After weeks of salivating anticipation, my wife and I enjoyed a late dinner last Saturday at this long time favorite. The host, hostess, and waiter were all gracious and attentive, in a cool, laid-back way. There is no pretense here; tables are in demand not because people want to be seen, but because they want to enjoy the outstanding food.... More
