I was excited about this place and traveled to get there on a Wednesday. Check the operating hours, they are unusual. Arrived at 4:45 not knowing that they close at 5. It would have been nice if they had not dumped out the sweet tea...at 4:44. Also strange that they wouldn't serve a take-out order from someone that arrived at 5:03. I had the pulled pork sandwich and wifey had the chicken. The pork was just average. The chicken was warm, at best and just OK. The baked beans were wonderful. Teh homemade chips were.....homemade, fried, crispy and flavorless. Oh well, checked it off the list, no need to go back.More

We live "down the mountain a piece, " & are native to this area. We took a ride up the mtn to enjoy the beautiful fall color & warm temperatures today. We stopped for lunch but won't be returning to this restaurant for several reasons....We didn't mind waiting in line to order & paying up front, but don't add your tip until after your service because other than "dropping off" the food, we never saw them again. The portions were generous. The cole slaw & fries were good. The flavor of the hushpuppy (*sigh* only 1 with an $18 platter) was good, but pretty greasy & mine looked like a bite had been taken out of it. The brisket flavor was good but the pork flavor was just average, not as smokey as I'd have hoped (& I had to add salt which I NEVER do). Both meats were DRY. The meat was also just barely room temperature, the center of my pork portion was cold. (Do they reheat it before serving??) The sauces were ok though, but again, nothing special. They were out of several menu items, too. We found our own "to go" boxes for leftovers. bussed our own table when finished & no tables were wiped down while we were there either. **outdoor seating is available, but the trash was so full out there that yellow jackets were swarming all over! Big Nick's BBQ in Sylva & Haywood Smokehouse in Dillsboro are both much better overall & give more value for your dollar. I hate to leave a bad review, but we were really disappointed. We'll go elsewhere next time we're in Cashiers.More

Each time we are in the area we eat at The Smokehouse in Cashiers - so good!. There were only three people running the front of the restaurant and they were hustling!! I commend them for their good attitude and friendly personalities as there was...a line of people out of the door trying to order or be seated. My husband and I both had the special - chopped rib sandwich - so good. The coleslaw if very tasty as well. We will return next time we are in the area!!More

We happened to drive by after a hike and pulled in as we saw the nice outdoor seating and it looked popular. Wow, we were not disappointed. The staff was so nice and the food was amazing. I had the brisket sandwich and had collards...as my side and it also comes with homemade chips. It was a big meal! The brisket was tender and flavorful. The collards were cooked just right. My husband had a half rack of ribs and his plate was huge! He said they were tender and delicious. We both had leftovers. I would definitely recommend stopping on if you have worked up an appetite after a hike!More

I had my favorite which is brisket with sweet BBQ sauce and it came out on a toasted legit bun with a large protion of brisket and melted in my mouth with awesome flavor- so juicy. It came with a great side (I had the...potato salad) with kettle chips that looked home made and a hush pupply that was crispy and hot on the outside and soft and moist on the inside without being greasy. The service was excellent and fast once I got my order in and consdiering there was a wait - The atmosphere was relaxed open spaces inside and out with open air screening and fans in inside dining and shady picnic style outside. The restrooms were spotless considering how busy it was and even had modern soap and paper towel dispensers and looked just redone. The kitchen was visible and very tidy. Several times had folks checking on me - even though it was get a number and take it to your table style. I had a crazy thing happen and lost my keys and met the owner and he was so nice and helpful. I got a really good vibe about this place and will be definately be back and already recommended it to friends.More

We have ridden by this restaurant many times while on our motorcycle loop from Knoxville and just never stopped. Finally did last week. It was excellent. BBQ Chicken was great and my buddy had brisket sandwich. It was a huge portion. Could of easily fed...us both. Weather was perfect so we ate outside. Service was good too. Like the idea of having outside, inside, and inside screened in dining areas. Fits all comfort levels. It will be a go to destination on future rides. You will not be disappointed.More

NIce indoor and out door dining. It was a rainy day so we were nice and dry inside. I ordered the brisket sandwich with potato salad, my husband the pulled pork sandwich and fried okra. My brisket was excellent, juicy and tender. He said his...pulled pork was good. Very good sauce, my potato salad was very good. He had a large pile of fried okra which was good. Their potato chips are FANTASTIC. They make them there and they are cruncy without being greasy and just the right amount of salt. Excellent and friendly service. We enjoyed our meal and would return.More

We had not been to the smokehouse in a while and stopped by for lunch. The Philly Brisket had melted cheese, onions and peppers and a toasted crusty large sublike bun and a huge portion of brisket. This choice was more than enough for the...two of us and was very tasty. The coleslaw was excellent. I did not care for the hushpuppy that had had an overpowering spice that took away from it. If you order sweet tea I would order half and half. I definitely recommend this restaurant.More

My wife and I are staying in Cashiers for a few days, and stopped in at Cashiers Valley Smokehouse. We split an order of pulled pork, and added a third side, giving us fries, coleslaw and Mac and cheese. The shared meal was ample for...both of us. The bbq sauce was very good, along with all of the sides. Coleslaw is a personal preference and I enjoyed their version. We will visit them again the next time we are in the area.More

We recently ate here while vacationing at lake Glenville. My husband, a North Carolina native, was excited for some NC BBQ. I suggested this place based on the reviews and b/c it was too rainy to drive to Highlands for the smokehouses there. When we...arrived, we smelled no smell whatsoever of smokehouse BBQ. Since it was one of the only restaurants open in town that evening, we stayed and ordered. The food had ZERO BBQ smoke taste. My husband ordered the chicken which looked exactly like the kind of roast or baked chicken you get at the grocery store and the BBQ sauce was on the side to dump over it. Huh? Very odd. I had a turkey and bacon sandwich which tasted fine but the turkey was also in no way smoked. I had a hush puppy side which was good as was the mac and cheese. Overall, a just OK experience. And, as one reviewer said, they weren't doing a very good job of wiping the tables down. There was one staff member (maybe owner/mgr?) there busting her butt to take care of everyone but the rest of the staff were pretty slack and indifferent. And I had to listen to my hubby pout all the way home about how we didn't get any good BBQ while back in his home state - ha.More

Pulled pork was flavorful and required no bbq sauce, though the sauce was good too. Fried okra was amazing and obviously hand breaded. Great hush puppies. Ordered it to go, but was still awesome. Hope to visit again

This is not the Cashiers Smokehouse of old. The new owner really know what they are doing. The service is good, the restaurant is clean and safe. The brisket is the best anywhere around here. The pulled pork and the chicken is wonderful too. Love...the side except with the potato salad had the potatoes cut into smaller bite sized pieces. Their french fries are AMAZING! We have stopped by just to get and order of their fries. Visited multiple times since their opening. LOVE this place!More
