We were taken out for our anniversary to this restaurant in the Unstead Hotel. It was fabulous. For a start the hotel is just gorgeous, unique marble squares facing which gives an aztec/modern effect which is spectacular. The patio in the back for drinks before dinner looks out over a lake surrounded by a forest. The restaurant itself if elegant... More

We visited Herons for brunch on a Sunday with another couple. The room is beautiful, the furniture classical and the table presentation very good. Service was immaculate, from order taking to accurate plate delivery by several servers. I had not tried shrimp and grits, so this was my first example and it was very good. Other had omelettes, French toast,... More

This is within the extremely nice Umstead Hotel in which we were staying and the restaurant is also very nice and the staff and service very good. We had breakfast there two mornings and it was very good from an A la Carte menu. We went for dinner one evening with friends and it offers A la Carte as well... More

Beautiful presentation and great wine list! Elegant upscale meal and amazing service. Our waiter knew wines and the food inside and out. We did a wine pairings dinner and it was wonderful!

We love going to Heron's. It's not inexpensive but you can count on getting excellent quality and service. We've never had a bad meal here and the service is truly exceptional. They go out of their way to make sure every need you have is accommodated, especially any food allergies. If you tell them it's a special occasion they will... More

Herons is a wonderful restaurant in the beautiful Umstead Hotel. My date and I had the 4 course tasting with wine pairing, and we enjoyed every course and pairing. While it wasn't a special occasion, it is a special occasion restaurant and can be a tad pricey. However, it was worth every penny. The service was also impeccable.

Heron's is one of our fave restaurants. When we celebrate big, the only choice we have to figure out is what time of the evening to meet at Heron's. The location is always known and happily agreed to by the group.

My wife and I had lunch last week. The food was very good (especially the fish), the setting pleasant as well as luxurious and the service attentive. What struck me most was the relatively low cost for the quality of the experience. Although not nearly as good as Fearrington House, we will certainly be going back.

Herons is a great restaurant for a brunch, a drink on the patio or an elegant chef's menu. Our favorite is to come in for brunch on a weekend morning and linger over the donuts, coffee and tea and the amazing omelettes.

With three kids in tow, we had a wonderful brunch on a Sunday morning with an amazing harpist playing background music for us.The food was fresh, tasty and the cold- pressed juice options were great! We sat near the kichen window where the chefs we're preparing all the food, impeccably. The children really enjoyed being able to watch them in this... More
