I have been here with my son three times over the past three years. During his freshman year I rated Gourmet Kingdom only three stars, mostly because some lamb dish was rather lame. A year later, during his sophomore year they earned four stars, having impressed my son who seldom requests we go to a Chinese restaurant. Now, at the... More

Our favorite Chinese. May be daunting if not used to traditional Chinese but food is awesome. Pork Dumplings, DanDan noodles, Kung Pao, and Chinese broccoli were fantastic. We are from a big city and have craved china town food since moving here. This is it!

We've complained for years that Chinese food in the Triangle is very safe, square, and fundamentally boring. We'd heard about The Gourmet Kingdom for years and finally went. We were very impressed! No egg rolls, no spring rolls, and soups that aren't the norm. But our very helpful waiter guided us through the menu with its cryptic titles and more... More

Went with a group of friends during a workshop - they were very accommodating. The menu is pretty unique - try the century egg - not sure what they were called on the menu, but they were awesome!!!! We mixed and matched our food and all shared so sampled a little of everything - and it was all delicious!

I was a bit worked when I saw the menu of lotus flowers, pig intestines, and jellyfish because we were with a three - year - old who would not have appreciated the opportunity to experiment. Someone came asking quite promptly and asked if we had any questions. I admitted that were did, in that my son was expecting noodles.... More

Nice polite staff. They quickly put in an order for my young son. The food was of a high standard. The portion sizes were plentiful and drinks were refilled straight away. The rice portion with the meal was also generous. The menu had a mix of the usual Americana for those who wanted what they get from their local takeaway... More

Tried it once and perhaps did I not chose the optimal dish because I thought it was just ok. Amasingly much food though as I had food for two large sized lunches to bring with me home. The personnel was friendly but I was not too impressed by the interior in the restaurant even if it was fresh

We had a friend from Malaysia order all the dishes. She picked entrees I would not normally have tried but they were all fantastic. My favorite was the salt and pepper shrimp. The beef hot pot and tofu were also really good. They have regular Chinese entrees as well. If you go, try to branch out as you won't be... More

We've tried several Chinese restaurants in the Triangle and this is one of the best. As close to what you'll find in Chinatown in NYC or SF. A fairly varied menu with interesting dishes. I had spicy pigs ears, very hot lamb with cumin. Both impeccably spiced and cooked. My wife had beef tendon fairly spicy. The other fishes included... More

I had never had Gourmet Kingdom's food before calling in a take-out order of shrimp fried rice. I specifically asked for no onions, but upon opening the container after getting home, I discovered that it was full of onions. On top of that, the shrimp looked terrible -- dry, way overcooked, as far from fresh as possible. One other complaint... More
