Solid Tex-Mex with more than 20 years of great flavors. Fresh-made tortillas, tasty grilled chicken, amazing grilled steak, yummy crunchy tacos, great guacamole and salsa. Not perfect, though; the prices have crept higher, and they switched to Pepsi a few years back. Despite these drawbacks, The Grill remains a consistent favorite.

I stopped in here to grab dinner after getting into town. The bean and cheese tacos were great and very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. When you enter, you can fill out an order pad checking off all of the ingredients you want in your taco or burrito and they do not shortchange you on the... More

The Armadillo has been popular for lunch, dinner, and night life for a long long time. The bar is excellent, but the popularity of the restaurant baffles me. Counting food trucks there are six better Mexican options in the Carrboro area.

We enjoyed Armadillo Grill as a late lunch option. The service was great and it was fast. We enjoyed our meals--I had a chicken burrito, and my partner had cheese enchiladas. We liked the option of writing our order on a note and giving it to the cashier. We loved the unlimited salsa and pico de gallo. It was a... More

The best way to describe this is to think of what Taco Bell wishes it could have been. You come inside, fill out a sheet of paper with what you want, pay and just a few minutes later you have totally delicious Mexican food. Everything I have tried is good and best of all, it's cheap. It's an institution and... More

A group of us stopped here for a late lunch. I got a big burrito, and some very good queso and guacamole. You order yourself at the counter, then get your drinks and find a table.

They have margarita specials on Friday and you don't have to pay for the chips if you order them from the bar. Personally, I am impressed that they are committed to only serving guacamole that was made from fresh avocados.

This could be the best tostada I have had, and I have had quite a few. The beef is marinated, grilled, and tender. It comes with either black beans or refries and a smear of guac. This item is almost on par with a place in San Diego called Roberto's and their carna asada burrito.

We were in town for work and stopped by here for lunch. The salsa bar was tasty and the tacos and guacamole were good. The ordering of food on the little notepads was interesting. Prices were good and the food was fresh and tasty.

The food is good, the atmosphere not so much. I ordered tacos with avocado (which is extra) and could not taste the avocado because they added so little. But everyone enjoyed their food, kids and adults alike, and we ordered a good variety. It was a Sunday (Mother's Day and UNC's commencement), but there was no one else there when... More
