I have not written a Trip Advisor review in a while, but Salt Fish is definitely deserving of a rave review. Literally some of the best food I have eaten in quite a while. Beautifully created dishes that were almost as appealing to look at as they were to eat. Flavor of the fresh seafood was outstanding. Our server was attentive and offered great suggestions The clam fritters were an excellent starter. Our table enjoyed the shrimp fried rice in half pineapple; fresh trigger fish with a chimichurri butter, and perfectly cooked scallops in a green curry sauce. Barely a speck of food left on any plate. Great atmosphere. Reservations recommended because of limited seating. Amazing!!

Small restaurant with a good eclectic menu. Make reservation since it only has 4 tables and about 9 bar spaces. Including a 2 seater table by the bar. No beers on tap and limited bottled selection. Good cocktails of which we had. Nice wine selection. We had tuna poke as appetizer which was fresh and plentiful. The ginger dressing superb. I had fish of the day, monk. Freshly prepared light and flaky tender grilled just right. My wife immensely enjoyed he Saigon beef noodle dish. Seasoned just right with plenty of ingredients. The coconut cream pie is light fresh and taste great. Give it a try!

We had dinner here last Saturday night and it was absolutely incredible. The chef is a serious talent and so creative. We never expected to have a truly memorable culinary experience at the beach, but Salt Fish delivers the goods. From the scrumptious Japanese yam bite given out at the start of the meal to the pineapple foster for dessert, everything we ate just blew our minds. My husband and I ordered the two specials- mine was red snapper on a curry cake and his was grouper on coconut rice with a fried egg on top. The fish was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The flavor combinations the chef created were unlike anything we have had before. I expect great things from him. We want to go back to CB just so we can eat here again. This is not to be missed!

Salt Fish at Carolina Beach was one of the best meals Ive ever had not to mention sampling the other five entrees of my family members. This quaint little restaurant of only 4 tables , several bar seats and one wonderful man named Phillip basically your waiter and bartender whom needs no pen and paper add to your wonderful experience...!!! The kitchen pumping out one delightful dish after another with Polynesian and Caribbean flavors dancing in your mouth. The owner was very friendly helping all around yet as busy as they were relaxed as could be. Great vibe!! Funky decor ! Reservations are required and did i already mention food was exceptional as well as beverages! Capri Colello

Salt Fish has limited seating so make reservations but if you get there early enough you should be able to get a seat at the bar. Very colorful inside, island vibe. The food is amazing!! The waiter/bartender very friendly and fun.

My wife and I saw the reviews, a perfect score, so we decided to try this place out. Please read until the end. My wife and I are not avid post’rs of reviews, this place is the real deal. We pulled up to the building, nothing stood out, ordinary building, parking in front and back. We walked in and were immediately greeted like we were old friends (first time here btw). We were able to get seating at the bar to eat. FYI, call for a reservation several days ahead of time is a suggestion. My wife made a comment that everyone here enjoys working together to serve their patrons/friends. We haven’t been treated this special at a restaurant in years! Thank you! Then our delicious from scratch drinks came out in these unique mugs. Everyone is different. We were reading our menus and we wanted everything on it! Our meals came out hot n fresh with a genuine smile from everyone within vision. We don’t have words to describe how heavenly fantastic the food was! The scallops I ordered were soft like cotton and practically melted in your mouth! And the sauces and spices! Just the perfect amount of everything. Not too much, not too little, but perfect! My wife kept nudging me to stop going mmmm after every bite. Not kidding. She ordered a rice n beans meal with chicken and cabbage. She couldn’t stop eating it and smiling. I don’t know how they do it, what mixture of spices and sautéed gourmet top pick meat they use, but this has to be the best food on the planet! The couple next to us said that this place is the hidden little gem of Carolina Beach! We made reservations for Saturday before we were done with our meal. Everyone came to talk to us, the chef, the owner and they were so genuine! They all are relaxed and take great pride in everything they offer! We can’t wait for Saturday to come! Three more days! Thank you all for this fabulous experience!

You must visit this restaurant, if you are in Carolina Beach, NC. The restaurant is quaint, the meal was incredible and the owner, Kirsten, and her staff, Samantha and Becca, epitomized true customer service and North Carolina values. We ate there on Wednesday and booked another visit the next Friday.

Food was good and our waitress was really nice. All employees were properly masked, they're using a menu you pull up on your phone to avoid touching shared objects, and eating outside was refreshing. Really enjoyed the mai tais.

We had read reviews on Trip Advisor, so Salt Fish was high on our list to try. In a word, it was awesome!! We both have some food allergies/intolerances, and our server and the chef were very responsive. The chef even came out to check with us. The food was absolutely delicious. The catch was mahi mahi with rice and veggies - it was served with chimichurri sauce which was the perfect complement. We also had the Saigon noodles with shrimp (minus the chilis) - it was the best plate of food I have ever eaten!!! It is a small place, so we were lucky to get a table - reservations would be recommended.

Ate here twice. Both times got the lettuce wrap chicken app. Delicious and easy to share. Fish of the day was Hogfish. Well executed. Marinated beef was a little more medium than true medium rare. A teres major cut marinated 48 hours. Get it. Kasey (spelling?) and Phillip provided excellent service. Reservations accepted and necessary.

The building is a little dated and the interior could use a refresh but that didn't take away from the excellent food. Starting with the generous mai tai served in a beautiful tiki glass to the amazing smoked fish dip to our entrees which included the fresh catch of the day and the half pineapple loaded with fried rice, chinese sausage and mahi mahi (it comes with shrimp, which I don't care for, so they happily substituted mahi mahi for me) everything was delicious. Will definitely return on my next visit to Carolina Beach!

What a culinary gem! The menu is fabulous, but dining alone, I decided to start small. The pineapple mojito was a sweet complement to the zingy jerk chicken wraps and kimchi. I will definitely be back.

We came for the tiki drinks and stayed for dinner. I'm so glad we did. The drinks were tasty and served in tiki style glasses ( just makes them taste better I think) Dinner was the best in town. It was fresh and cooked to perfection. Two weeks later and we are still talking about kimchi cucumbers.

At the recommendation of a friend we ate at three of his favorite restaurants in Carolina Beach. The food at Salt Fish was the best of the three. As a matter of fact the most delicious scallops on a bed of coconut rice and island slaw. I had two of the Salt o Ritas (couldn't resist). Watched as it was mixed with fresh oranges, lemon, and lime juice topped with courvoisier. Very small restaurant. Maybe 5 tables and 6 bar seats. Recommend calling as far in advance as possible.

Glad we chose this local establishment, open limited days during the winter. Started off with Larb as an appetizer, I think we were a few who came in who knew what Larb is……Delicious! Split the Crab stuffed Portobello mushroom entree, very tasty with a little kick in the marinara sauce. Had a nice chap with the Chef after dinner. Don’t pass it up in the area, dine like a local. Reservations recommended.
