I've eaten here many times before and always had a great experience but this time our server really went above and beyond. I was with my family - my mom, my sister and 3 little boys that were a little on the cranky/rambunctious side! Our waitress, Missy, was so great and attentive to all of us, especially the boys and... Their clam chowder is outstanding and they've won awards for it. We also each had a philly steak sandwich which was huge and delicious!

We ate at "The Shoals" twice this visit. The first evening, 3 people in the group and the local fish of the day. It was Sheepshead. They said it was delicious. Two had broiled and one had fried. I had the shrimp with wine and butter. Amazing! Very fresh local shrimp and delicious sautéed green beans. Becky our server was... More

With 4 friends had yet another terrific breakfast. The Fisherman's breakfast is all you could want. Eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, and biscuit or grits. Many others items on the menu. The service was prompt and very friendly. Don't pass up dining here.

Weddings are such a joyous occasion, and it was truly my pleasure to help make your son's big day a little extra special. I'm glad we could find some crabs to help his wedding wish come true and with the newlyweds a lifetime of love and happiness! All the best, Keith Gray, Owner More

Diamond Shoals has been a Buxton landmark restaurant for over 20 years since the Gray family took possession. The restaurant is of good size and employs some very nice local folks to ensure that a visitors day gets off on the right foot. Their menu is varied in that the offerings would please the majority. Great, large omelet choices with... More

Stopped in for fish tacos and the clam chowder, which clearly met expectations given the advertisements. The chowder was loaded with tender chopped clams, potatoes, and celery, and was nicely seasoned. Broth was delicious and not too thick; the chowder was served piping hot with oyster crackers. Fish tacos were piping hot and topped with fresh mango salsa. Sweet potato... More

Pretty much fried seafood. They do have a salad bar which did not appear fresh. I am always leery when imitation bacon bits are served on a salad bar. The clam chowder was as thick as southern gravy and tasteless. The chowder was also served room temperature. When I asked if they could nuke it to heat it up, they... More
