Delicious!! We got the chicken and waffles, wings and the smokehouse? Burger. Our waitress Gina was really helpful and sweet, working the dining room all by herself and handling it so well! Rusty came out and introduced himself and checked on all of the customers...which was great to see. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also really nice, our first time going and won’t be our last! Well worth it 😊More

It was Sunday and not a lot from which to choose, since we found most restaurants are closed on Sundays. Luckily, we found Rusty’s and, although it was their final opening of the season before they shut down for a month, we wound up having...the best meal of our long weekend. Some items were not available, but we found plenty of options. Hush puppies were great. My wife had the veggie stir fry with cashews which was excellent. I had a mahi-mahi special with an Asian glaze that was the best piece of fish I’ve had in a long while. Kat, our server, took great care of us, even though the restaurant appeared short handed. We’ll go back again on our next trip maybe more than once.More

Our group of 8 ate at Rusty’s our last night on the island and had a great time. Service was excellent and the food fresh and delicious. Our 2 year old granddaughter was with us and our server brought her a bowl of noodles right...away to keep her happy. We shared an assortment of seafood appetizers and the mahi entree 5 of us had was excellent. The bar did a nice job on the mixed drinks and have 5 craft beers on tap. Not on the water if you are looking for that ambiance but interior is spacious and nicely decorated. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. We will be back.More

Great food, but disappointing experience. We gathered for my Father’s 70th Birthday (to be a surprise) brought a cake to the front before meal and they said they would bring it out. And the end of the meal the waiter comes out and says someone...brought a cake. Then said it cost $5 dollars a plate if you want to eat it here. That was the first time we heard that and there was the surprise. Asked in front of my dad, what do you want to do? I said fine, they brought out plates and forks, we pulled the cake out of the cooler we brought it in and we took it out and cut it ourselves.More

I went on a family vacation to the outer banks and had to stop at Rusty’s because some friends had recommended it, it was the best experience at a restaurant I have had in a long time! Our waitress was the sweetest little thing and...we were very well taken care of. The owner actually came out to our table and made sure everything was great! We ordered drinks (definitely try the Rusty’s Mermaid), they came out so fast and were so delicious!More

Had reservations on September 4th. At 6:30pm. We arrived a little early and were promptly seated (party of 9). Drinks were ordered and arrived in a timely manner. Everyone loved their cocktails. I had the Buxton Bourbon Proper. If you like old fashions give it...a try. Apps orders calamari, fried green tomatoes, spring rolls and house made hush puppies. Great flavor and all cooked perfectly. Our group loved it all and it was quickly consumed. Entrees ordered and all came out in less than 20 min. Now the restaurant was full at this time and I thought it would be a while before our entrees cam out. Crab cakes, Fried shrimp, Seared Tuna and I think the best dish on the menu the Pamlico Paella, oh the flavors! Then came the homemade desserts, all on point and delicious. Our sever was on point and very attentive. We then went to the bar area for some after dinner drinks. The bar was full and no seats were available. We were still able to order our drinks from the bartender and she accommodated us with no problem. A table finally came available and we enjoyed our cocktails. Such a great atmosphere in the bar with the surfer and beach theme. I would highly recommend Rusty’s as the menu has offerings that you don’t see on the Island. Plus you can make reservations online,which is a big plus. Don’t wait 2 hours for your table. We will be back next year.More

Best food in town! Highly recommend the crab cakes and any desserts! Also Rusty is pretty cool too!!

This is the best fried shrimp i have ever had! And the s’mores cake is to die for!!! Rusty is an amazing owner as well, very friendly and the staff was so great!!

After being turned away from several sound side restaurants (either booked or 2 hour wait). We stopped here cause it was the closest too use at the time. Service was excellent and food was even better.

My husband and I ate at Rusty's in May 2022 and really enjoyed our meal. My husband had a shrimp special and I had ribs. The food was delicious & the service was great. I highly recommend Rusty's.

We’ve been visiting 12S for a while, usually in the off season when Rusty’s has been closed. Visited May 19, 2022 for the first time. We made a reservation, table was ready for us in a great spot…i feel horrible i cannot remember our waiters...name, but he was awesome. we got the goat cheese/mushroom appetizer & the tempura shrimp… amazing… then we get to entrees, i had the mahi special & hubs had the paella. neither of us has had a better meal on hatteras island… got a piece of Neapolitan cake to go. whole experience was great. we will be back & recommendMore

We were beyond impressed with Rusty’s in Buxton! The crab cakes were the best I’ve ever eaten, in fact everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Our server Paul was very personable and took great care of us. We highly recommend Rusty’s!
