This is a small old school kind of place, been there for decades. Food is affordable and falls right in line as a"comfort" kinda place food. We ate simple meals of salads and baked potatoes and veggie beef soup. All good, hot and tasty. The...place isn't go to "wow" you with how it looks, it has age all over it but it also won't bust your wallet for a meal either. For affordable comfort food, a good choice even though it is rough around the edges.More
We saw other reviews on TripAdvisor and gave this restaurant a try- very glad we did! From appearances, it is not fancy but the service ( Amber) was terrific and the food was tasty! The salads were fresh and the blackened grouper was perfect. My...husband had the elk burger and it was done perfectly.More
My Family and I came here for dinner for the first time this evening. We were seated immediately which was nice with it being a Friday. I had ordered the swiss cheese burger with sauteed onions and toasted bun. Super delicious. The French fries are...good too. My Husband ordered the ham and cheese sandwich and he enjoyed that. My Brother really enjoyed the Clam chowder soup. The Raspberry cheesecake is amazing! We would definitely come back againMore
After reading mixed reviews Of this restaurant I finally decided to go on one of my many trips to Bryson City. I went on a Sat nite and entering the waitstaff was very busy. The restaurant was pretty crowded. I literally stood in the line...to be seated and staff just looked at me and no one spoke. In my mind I was thinking yep this is what the bad reviews are coming from. However the staff seemed nice to the customers that were seated. I finally placed my to go order of blackened trout, loaded baked potato and a side salad with ranch. The waitress told me it would be a 35 min wait due to being so crowded but it was only around 20. I ordered the lunch side which was PLENTY for one person. I actually always share with my very spoiled Boston terrier and it was still plenty. The price was good also. If the staff could just even fake being friendlier I can only imagine how much better the reviews would be. But the food was very very good! I’m also sure the staff overall is stressed and overworked and understaffed. I usually tip big even with take out but opted not too as I think friendliness and kindness goes a long long way. I can say I would definitely eat there again due to the quality of food. The blackened trout was soooo good! I can’t get this back home many places. I’d also want to try their filet. They were sold out if it last nite. All and all the food is a solid 5 and the staff is a solid 3. That gave me my personal rating of a 4. I’d still highly recommend.More
We went based on reviews and the food was better than the average greasy spoon (their buffalo sauce is excellent). The staff was indifferent and I felt like we were getting in the waitress's way, despite not asking for anything special. Lots of teenagers working...and hanging around chatting, but I guess it's good they're getting work experience! Service could use some courtesy training.More
Decent steaks, passable food, but like what seems like every other restaurant in town, they are closed Monday and Tuesday, as well as (apparently) Sunday evening, contributing to the difficulty in finding an open restaurant in the town.
Waited 30 minutes to be seated with tables open. Poor waitresses were running Togo orders, serving tables, bussing tables, hosting, and checking out customers. Out of many popular food choices. Food came out entree LAST. The stuffed mushrooms were swimming in butter and it’s all...you could taste. Really expensive for the service and quality of food. It will do in a pinch but not recommended over all.More
Went to Jimmy Mac’s on August 12th for dinner, looking forward to their delicious Grouper. We sat down in a booth where the seat was ripped wide open. I can appreciate the homey look, but after a while, it just looks you’re too cheap to...get it fixed. Our waitress appeared to be about 15 years old, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, she acted like she was 12. She asked us if we wanted our salads before the meal and we said yes. They did, about 10 seconds before the meal. We were told sorry, which was a forced response. Our food was delicious, Grouper for me and a crab cake, for my wife. The atmosphere was more like a daycare with a little girl carrying people’s food. May be cute to some, but not to us. All in all, great food, with a lousy experience.More
Food was not properly prepared. Long wait, longer wait to get food. Hamburger was raw and sent back, second hamburger arrived less raw but well after rest of family finished their food. Husband said his hamburger bun was stale, on the redo, second hamburger was...served on texas toast.
we love jimmy macs but last experience was not the typical one we enjoy. may try again on next bryson city visit.More
Was looking for local trout and found it. Overall a nice little place. Service was a bit slow and others had to wait a while to get a table. Thankfully I called ahead so we got right in. I would eat here again.
