Late evening dinner after concert a Shaffer Hall at Appalachian State University. Not very clean, food mediocre. Service mediocre. Not worth the price.

This place is amazing, top to bottom, start to finish, everything was incredible. My husband and I met another couple here for lunch a few weekends ago. Everything was delicious! We started with the nachos. The freshly made tortilla chips are what elevated them from good to great. My husband and I shared a cup of the soup of the... More

We ate here during a day trip to Boone. Great location. Directly across from ASU resident halls. We were not impressed with the artichoke dip and it wasn't very "dippy", but the Reuben and the French dip was good. The pimento cheese dip was a treat. The best thing was the dessert. We would come back.

Once again, because of tripadvisor I ended up finding a great place for dinner. The food, service and surroundings were great. The nachos were very good and the wedge salad with sliced rib-eye steak was also great. So glad we decided to give the Red Onion a try--would definitely go there again.

Good food and service. The turkey burger was delicious. Ask to sit on the left side versus right....every time I have been and sat on the right, it has been very noisy. Not sure why but I enjoy the quiet side best. Outdoor seating available as well.

Went here with family for dinner. Was an interesting evening. ..a big storm rolled through and several business lost power except Red Onion so there were A LOT of people coming in to eat. The staff never lost their cool and handled the situation very well. Even with the busyness the food was still very good and the staff never... More

We were in Boone, NC for a baseball tournament at App State and ate at this place when we got into town. We had a salad special, a pasta, a flatbread and lasagna. The best item was the pasta, everything else didn't have much flavor. Service was just ok. Place looks much nicer from the outside than it was inside.

My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner at the Red Onion for our anniversary. Being a Sat night, we called to make a reservation - and were promptly seated on the patio upon arriving 10 min early. Waitress was at the table in a flash. We started with the fried zucchini and it arrived in a short time. Very... More

Extensive menu and everything is fresh and delicious. Salmon was wonderful as were the dinner salads. It's conveniently located right near Appalachian State College and they have wonderful shows and art programs. It's a casual restaurant with outdoor seating available. Service was excellent too.
