The Gamekeeper, as the name implies, offers wonderful game meat entrees - Duck, Bison, Emu, Boar etc. as well as other wonderful fish and vegetarian dinner choices. As you drive up the fairly steep driveway - the trees part and you see the rustic elegance of the Gamekeeper. Welcomed immediately by a valet parking attendant - your parking worries are... More

This was our second visit to the Gamekeeper. We enjoyed the cocktails and exotic menu options as well as a vegetarian offering. Beautiful views and pleasant ambiance.

Visited the restaurant with family who live in the area. They had been there before and could, along with the very knowledgeable staff, guide us through a very delicious dinner. Though not all the meats were too my liking (and I wish my salmon had been cooked more), no one left unsatisfied. The half-price-wine-Thursday was a lovely bonus! Not for... More

First and foremost.... WORTH the long and winding road! (Which in reality is less than ten minutes off the main highway) An incredible drive, which may feel like you're lost or at best questioning your Google directions...but hold on! Once you reach the top of the driveway, you are immediately greeted by the very hospitable valet and your experience unfolds.... More

This is a restaurant for an advanced palate. It is a place you know you are supposed to like, but you may not necessarily enjoy. Not a place for children. Nice bar, great bread pudding, but dining is an acquired taste not many will enjoy.

Went here b/c of reputation. Long winding drive to get there was not worth the trip. Overpriced menu with average service and unusual somewhat loud broadway music in background. Our food was average and we had a wide variety of it. Nobody raved about their dinner

The service was excellent. Based on other reviews, we prepared ourselves for lengthy waits between courses, but everything was timely and well-paced. I had the fried green tomatoes to start. It was a very tasty dish but the tomatoes were lukewarm. It would have been a dish to die for otherwise. My husband had the bisque which was outstanding. I... More

Accommodated six adults and three children with great aplomb. Traditional selections were offered lfor the less adventurous children along with a nice offering of select farm raised exotic fare such as emu, bison, elk, boar, duck as lwell as vegetarian options for the more cultivated palates, all of which are prepared to perfection. The mixed grill appetizer is hard to... More

This has become our favorite restaurant in the mountains. We have been there about half a dozen times or so over the past three years. The food is always excellent and different. Look at their website for details. Service is always consistently good and although it's not a cheap place to dine, there isn't a dress code. Some people dress... More

This is a restaurant off a very curvy long road 20 min. from downtown blowing rock. Be ready for the late drive home and carsickness can be a problem for some people. The house at the top of the hill "Games Keeper " is rustic and older. Crowded Sat Nite. Valet Parking Progressive Art nice atmosphere with niches for tables... More
