We dined at Trailhead during our the recent trip to Black Mountains. The restaurant is mid scale and the pricing is decent. The ambiance was buoyed by a local band playing some lively music. The food was good , we ordered a burger and fried fish. There was an up charge for local meat. The waitress was pleasant and the... More

Nice atmosphere, laid back folks but attentive. Great craft beer selection to choose from. I highly recommend the Ninja Porter by Asheville Brewing Co. They also have HOMEMADE onion rings, made with a craft-brewed IPA batter, really good too.

We were ready for lunch early and they open at 11a. No crowd till noon, seated quick, food quick and it was delicious! Get a side of kale - so fresh and yummy! Fish and chips was a hit with our child too. We'll be back again.

Just had a wonderful 4 day stay in Black Mountain, and this gem of a restaurant was walking distance from our Inn. The food was excellent. Everyone in our party ordered either the tuna dish or the tilapia fish tacos. How wonderful to have excellently prepared seafood in the mountains! The kids menu also had a good variety, and was... Very good mussels (appetizer)! I mean best I have ever had! Sauce was devine! Then I ordered the fish and chips for dinner which were better than I have been able to find in western North Carolina. Great beers on tap and interesting house wine choices by the glass so you can try a few. Special of the day was... More

Staff was very nice but took their time to come by. We had to call them over a few times. Food was good but not great. The special was a "creamy" pasta with crawfish and scallops, however, the sauce was very runny and not creamy at all. It did have good size scallops and plenty of crawfish. Sadly, dish just... More

We ate lunch here---arriving about 11;45. There is a parking lot right next to the restaurant so this was helpful! I ordered the special: fresh trout on a bed of Kale. It was wonderful and just the right size portion too. The pickled red onion on the top was perfect too. Our waitress was very helpful and shared information about... More

This was our second visit in two years. We vacationed in Lake Toxaway and love to venture to Blackmountain area shopping. The entire downtown it's quaint and full of wonderful art and a great bakery as well.

Wow we really lucked out with this one! Drove into the quaint town of Black Mountain starving and not having a clue. We picked The Trailhead based on the 2 p's. There was a parking lot and a patio! We visited on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised to find live music. My husband had the Black Balsam Knob.... More
