On two occasions I have visited Dark City Deli to have lunch recently. On one occasion the young woman at the register was so new she could barely work the computer and then could not make change when I paid. The second visit was one month later and I could not even get seated although it was after 2:00 pm.... More

We stumbled on the place by accident trying to find a quick bite. The menu is not your typical deli menu. There is a wide range of choices from appetizers, salads and sandwiches. Each item has there own little twist. The food was very tasty and the service was above average. Good little hole in the wall place. Definitely worth... More

First visit. Really good sandwiches and burgers. Big too. Pretzels and beer cheese was good too. Great tunes inside, live local music outside. The service was top notch. We'll be back.

We were traveling to the Biltmore House for a concert and stopped in Black Mountain for lunch. Only one choice in our book, Dark City Deli for the Sweet Baby Jane (BLT). Oh my goodness. Perfection in every way. The sourdough toasted bread, loads of mayonnaise, stack of tender lettuce, thick slices of red tomatoes and the BACON. Or should... More

We stopped in on Monday afternoon to grab a beer and maybe a bite to eat. We were met at the door by a very nice young lady and she escorted us back to the bar area. There were 6 men seated or standing at the bar watching the Olympics. We sat down at a table and perused the food/beer... More

is a good combination! Portions are large without being overly so. Popular with locals and tourists. Some outdoor seating to watch people go by in the summer. Food is flavorful without being too spicy, and prepared well.

Well, we were hoping to sit outside and watch the Olympic Basketball finals, but it started pouring, so we had to find a table inside. The layout of the rooms is a little confusing, but we did end up finding a good spot by the window. The waitress was kind enough to change the channel so we could see the... More

One of the better burgers in the area - juicy, correctly cooked, not overloaded; interesting place with nooks and crannies to explore; laid back but capable staff.
