This is by far one of my favorite places to sit and eat. It is relaxed and laid back, but the service, people and food are great!

We were hungry after settling into our rental and remembered seeing this place on the way in; we decided to go there. We were so glad we did. They had live music craft beer and great food. We tried the heart bowls and the veggie burgers. Everything was delicious and reasonable. We definitely recommend.

Although it may seem that you are traveling to another state in reaching this restaurant, the amazing food from this small kitchen will make the ride well worth it. The rustic scene is perfect for this neck of the woods. The Caesar salad is amazing and prepared with a chefs touch. Mixed greens and lightly house made dressing is perfect.... More

Heard about this place from friends. Was tricky to find but oh how happy we were once there. Eclectic. Great music. Food quite good. Well worth the hunt! Makes you think you're in Key West only in the mountains!!

Driving through the mountains in NC, particularly Black Mountain, came across this little restaurant in the middle of nowhere. My only complaint was the wait to get food. We apparently arrived after a big rush, which was obvious as most of the outside tables needed bussed. The waitress was very apologetic and we were not in much of a hurry.... More

We love to go to the Straightaway when we are in Black Mountain. The patio atmosphere is great, and we're able to bring our Golden Retriever with us to enjoy our meal (and sometimes the music and the bonfire). The food is pretty much typical bar 7 grill food although there are usually a few specials that mix it up... More

Great music and friendly staff..Great food however menu needs a vampire. Burgers should be thicker, juicier for the price. More BBQ would be great on weekends like baby back ribs for a fair price. I'd go back and eat every vweekend.

Another wonderful night on the patio of the Straightaway. Hope Griffith was singing in her usual fantastic way and the veggie melt and heart bowl were great. Love coming here.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon after seeing it on NC Weekend. Was well worth the trip off the beaten path!!! FUN FUN place (I enjoyed walking around to look at things on the walls)! The people were friendly, wonderful and made sure we had a good time. Fish N Chips were fresh and filling (they even had malt vinegar).... More

We have always made a point of one or two stops. The funky atmosphere, the mostly country music and the reasonably priced food and wine are a big draw.
