We had their French dip special for lunch, and were happy with our selection. There were lots of other options, and we almost chose their hamburger or chef salad.

Eating breakfast is great. General store is overpriced so get your supplies in Banner Elk. Small store. Some of the breyers ice cream not frozen enough. Complained. Came back a few days later and it was the same. Their sign half gallon price is incorrect. Ice cream is less than half gallon.. told them and never got it changed.

It was a chilly, rainy afternoon and we ordered off the hot sandwich menu. We had the Reuben and the old smokey. Both were really good. What a quaint little spot. Loved it. Had it been a sunny day, we would have eaten outside on the deck. Now on to.shopping in the general store.

Fred's General Store on Beech Mountain has a little gem of a ' Deli ' located on the lower level of the store. It serves up the best ( some say only ) breakfast on Beech Mountain. Also it has a lunch menu with fantastic sandwiches , soups , and salads. It has no grill or fryer , so there... More

Grab a paper menu and decide what you want then place your order at the counter. Soups, chili, sandwiches hot and cold, and salads. Homemade pies, cookies, muffins, etc. they serve breakfast too. We were there for lunch and had a yummy tuna melt with chips and pickle. Hubby had chili and grilled cheese sandwich. All were quite tasty and fresh.... More

To eat at Fred's Deli is just part of the experience.... The other part is the General Store, and its pretty amazing. It takes you back to another time, but surprisingly, they live up to their motto.. "If we don't have it, you don't need it". That's the truth! The food may not be 5 star, but its really good... We had lunch here over the weekend on a girls' trip and it was delicious. Burgers fresh off the grill with all the toppings you need. It was so nice to sit on the patio and enjoy our meal and the nice weather since it was 100 degress in Charlotte over the weekend.

We love this place, you can get local produce, jams, jellies, baked goods and the New York Times. We love their breakfasts and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Staff is very nice and helpful. A trip to Beech is not complete without a visit to Fred's.

Set on the top of Beech Mountain this is a general store with groceries, hardware, fresh locally grown produce, hiking shoes and a nice little restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining in a beautiful setting.
