Stopped in during the Woolly Worm festival. We knew it would be crazy, but it wasn't that bad. We got a seat outside and that was nice. We ordered and the food came. They ran out of ketchup, but not a big deal. Our food was good. We want to go back during another weekend and see how it is... More

First time in Banner Elk. Decided to try the cafe for lunch. Good choice. They give you three menus, so that is confusing. We selected from the lunch specials. My wife had the baked chicken and mashed potatoes. She was very pleased. I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and boiled cabbage. Excellent meal. The service was a... More

I love small town cafes; the waitstaff are generally friendly - if you are - and they give you the skinny on the best choices as well as what's happening in town. The waitress plopped two menus down in front of me + the lunch specials and then receded to ask if I'd been in there before. Nope. Then she... More

We enjoyed dinner here while on vacation, eating outside and enjoying the autumn weather. The food was very good, especially the dessert, they offer delicious pies and cakes. Suggestion: sometimes while on vacation you just want a dessert & coffee, this is the place to go!

We stopped here for breakfast and was a huge mistake. Service was terrible. We say by an open door that let in a drafty breeze. Serves walked by constantly. Our simple breakfast order took forever. Will not be coming back - I do not like my eggs cold!

Relaxing and enjoyable Nothing fancy. Just a laid back place for a relaxing meal. Had the $10.95 steak and salad bar. Had to send steak back. A little too rare. Needed some seasoning but it was tender. Great price for what I got. Great selection of local beers.

We ate here three days in a row. Definitely have the grilled fresh trout and mashed potatoes. The atmosphere in the Cafe is so much better. In the Lodge there was a person repeatedly taking her employees loudly to task and berating them in front of diners.(Who trains their staff like this?) Our service was excellent and courteous every time.... More

Visited the cafe / lodge while traveling through Banner Elk. Knowing they are pet/dog friendly from stopping before, we came back. The staff is super friendly and accommodating to dogs. As long as you wait outside the patio and have someone go in to see the hostess for your table, they will gladly seat you on the patio and bring... More
