It’s always wonderful to see a preserved historic home. Nice coffee shop. The gift shop needs some attention. Wonderful view of the town from the Manor up the mountain.

Took 6 teenagers to see Santa and tour the manor, and honestly I was hoping for a bit more. The gift shop was definitely not a gift shop, there’s so much that could be sold with Skene Manor’s name on it that would make for...a nice souvenir but it’s really lacking and stuff just looked outdated and dusty. The views outside are lovely year round which is nice though.More
We originally were going to just see the castle and then discovered they have a "tea room" with a fairly extensive selection of casual fare. The dining room is beautifully decorated in the Victorian era theme to reflect the manor's heyday. The ladies who waited...on us are volunteers and provided great service and were very friendly. The food was very good too! Marie, our docent, did a beautiful job telling us about the house and how it has been renovated over the years. You will not believe how painstakingly some of the restorations were! What an amazing story. The tour lasted about an hour and is free, but we left a donation (all renovations & upkeep are funded this way). There is a gift shop too. A wonderful experience and well worth the trip!More
We enjoyed our tour, our guide Mary grew up in Whitehall and was very familiar with the history and stories of the house. It is currently in the process of being restored. It is a work of love.
Wow, so glad we stopped in on our way to Vt. Great history, free tours with good informative guides, awesome house, awesome views of lock 12. Tip: they serve lunch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Open until late December. Tip: go all the way up...past the third floor to the bell tower for the best views.More
Wonderful glimpse of history in a beautiful Victorian manor. Have a delicious lunch, then enjoy a tour of the home of Supreme Court Judge Joseph H. Potter. View of Whitehall, NY from the manor is beautiful.
What a wonderful afternoon a small group of four friends spent at the Manor. The food was very good. Limited menu but a nice selection. The volunteers who make the sandwiches and server them as well are really friendly. We would definitely go back again....The building is absolutely beautiful and if you get a chance to sit on the porch - do it - what a view.More
We were traveling home from Vermont, looking for something to see or do and read about Skene Mansion. It takes a little perseverance to find, but it's worth it. We had a wonderful, enthusiastic tour guide who told us the history of Skene Manor and...Whitehall. There is a lovely tea room and a nice view of the town and the tail end of Lake Champlain. If you like historical sites, this is very interesting!More
This is a great historical preservation project of an old manor house high on the hill. The view is astounding! The docent was fun and interesting, and the place is steeped in history. We had already eaten, but the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen...told us that was a mistake; we'll have to return another time to dine.More
A must is to stop by the lovely manor for lunch. Which we did not, because we did not know they served food. Just an historically elegant castle. Built on Skene mountain by Supreme court judge Joseph Potter in 1874. It has a gorgeous view...of Whitehall. Make sure you visit the Victorian Tea Room for lunch you will just love it. The building is being preserved for the future and its a work in progress. So there is much work to be done.More
Visited the Skene Manor for lunch. What a lovely place. Have been there many times for lunch and the free tour by volunteer docents. A must see while in the area. Lunch is served, Friday, Saturday and Sunday . There is also a gift shop....Fun place to take your club/group for lunch and a tour.More
My dad took me here recently. The restoration of the house is a work in progress. If you like big, old houses, you'll probably enjoy this. The setting of the house is nice, high on a hill overlooking Whitehall. We did not eat here, only...toured the house.More
Once owned by a supreme court judge, there have been many sorted owners over the years. Great views from the top of the hill and throughout the house. The visit is free with a volunteer payment. Interesting architecture. Some period furniture. We hope it will...continue to grow and improve.More
Take the tour, have lunch in the tea room, enjoy the view! Skene Manor is a great little stop to learn some history and just see a beautiful old building. Great spot for pictures in the fall
We drove up to Whitehall, NY from Lake George to check out an antique shop and go for a drive when we spotted this manor up on the hill. I found it online and we decided to visit! The warm welcome we got at the...door was a great start. The woman that seated us in a dining room decorated like a tea room said they were all volunteers. They were trying to raise money for the restoration of the manor. Food was very basic but good! Limited menu but you have to understand they are not a fully functioning restaurant. I got a BLT and it was comfort food for sure. The food was served with a smile. After lunch we took a tour of the manor and it was quite interesting, all 3 floors. It's still being restored so it wasn't as nice when we got to the top floors as they were completing some repairs and there wasn't much for furniture. But thinking about all the work and love they have already put into this building is wonderful. If you are in the area i'd say check it out!!More
