Delivery is not a strength!!

So, the food is generally good (we have eaten their food twice and both were good meals) but our experience yesterday was less than stellar. We ordered on line for a delivery. After 45 minutes I called the restaurant to see where my food was to find out that they had no delivery that night and I had to pick it up. A call to tell me would have been nice!! My food had been sitting for a while but was OK after a good microwaving. I will only call in an order if I decide to use them again.

Enjoyed their lunch buffet

Checked out this place on Sunday for their lunch buffet. I've eaten here before when I worked down the street and liked their food. Post Road isn't the best street for parking during the week, but good on weekends. For $13/person, it's not a bad deal. I appreciated they gave me 2 for 1 for my kids Found the food on par with other Indian buffets I've had in Westchester. I do like the layout and decor and would definitely go back again.

Indian Take Out, Dining Two Doors Down at Anar

India Cafe has only a couple of tables and is primarily take out. But apparently the same people own Anar Indian Restaurant two doors away. Two of us shared a delightful duo of chana masala and sag paneer over basmati rice. Good food, good service, low price.

Sent back tasteless lamb sag and had it taken off bill. Fish curry came cold from the fridge. They make in advance and nuke (yuck!). Chat on samosa chat needed

Who Needs Chutney Anyway?

Tonight was a special pre-yom Kippur dinner with friends and our screwed up order resulted in one of the worst evenings of the year completely ruined because India Cafe restaurant in white plains allowed me to order mango chutney and then did not send it with my $98.62 order. They felt that offering a $4 credit was ok when I would have NEVER ordered from them if I knew they were out. Its like ordering burritos and the restaurant runs out of avocado or tortillas and assume the customer still wants the order. I WOULD HAVE CANCELLED! Now I'm stuck with $98.62 worth of food and without the essential condiment, its not worth it. Imagine if you spent $100 on French fries and looked forward to it for weeks, and when they finally arrive, they tell you they were out of catsup. We are so upset considering there are plenty of other indian restaurants in the area. The unfriendly lady at the restaurant told me she was born and raised in India and that no one eats mango chutney with their food. Was this supposed to make me feel better? I was l left insulted and in a rotten mood. When I did finally eat. The food was entirely too spicy for my palate, but I'm sure that if I had complained, I would have been told that its my problem. The service I received on the phone was beyond bad. If you like hot spicy food, you will love this place. But if you order mango chutney and it doesn't arrive, don't worry; apparently only stupid Americans like it and you don't really need it anyway.

Amazing food!

This is one of the best Indian restaurants ever. The food is consistently good and they always offer something different in their lunch buffet. I will definitely keep going back.

Don’t be fooled by the reviews. I ordered chicken Tikka masala as well as onion naan. The gravy tasted like canned spaghetti sauce. Sadly, it was the worst I’ve ever. The naan was ok. However, the rice was clumpy, dried and undercooked. I won’t come back.

Great find!

We were happy to chance upon India Cafe for a recent family dinner. The menu, as stated for others, offers great vegetarian options, alongside traditional fare for carnivores. The okra was outstanding and the vegetarian fried rice delectable. Newcomers should consider some of the appetizers, particularly the mushroom tandoor which was outstanding. We will definitely return.

Great food at a reasonable price!

We have been looking for a go to restaurant for our family, something for vegetarians and omnivores, tasty dishes, and not too expensive. We love this place. Decor is a bit plain and lighting a bit too bright, but the food is great. The okra and paneer tikka masala dishes were excellent. Tandoori mushroom a pleasant surprise. We will be back!

Take Out Restaurant is Bug Infested

The Indian food is delicious and very reasonably priced, particularly at India Cafe's takeout restaurant adjacent to the main dining room, which offers "lunch boxes" for around $10. I frequented this restaurant during the work week for lunch, and visited maybe 10 to 15 times this Fall. I was willing to overlook the tremendous presence of flies in the takeout area, although it appeared to be unsanitary. Granted, I never saw a fly in the actual food, but you cannot walk into the takeout restaurant and not see flies, which is gross. The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back for me was last week when I saw a cockroach crawling on the wall behind the lunch buffet and cash register. Completely gross and unacceptable, and makes me wonder what on earth the kitchen looks like if flies and roaches are visible in the guest takeout area. I love the food here, but the stomach turning volume of bugs has made me a former customer.

Hidden gem

I caught up with a friend over dinner at India Cafe. I grew up around the corner and was impressed with the quality of food and service. I wish my stomach was bigger so I could eat more. The waiter was so humble and welcoming that he made us both feel at home. The neighborhood isn't too great but don't let that distract you from this gem.

Best Indian food in Westchester

I’ve dined here four times in the last three months. Three dinners and the buffet on Sunday. The food is really good. Flavors are multi-dimensional and the spices are well balanced. The service is very attentive and friendly. Prices are fair—a good value. Best Indian food in Westchester in my humble opinion.

Really Good Take-Out

Our usual go-to take-out Indian place a few blocks away and across the street closed, so we tried the take-out part of India Cafe. (There is a sit-down restaurant, same name, 2 doors away.) Not at all fancy, but excellent food. Tonight was our third visit. There is an extensive menu with many dishes unfamiliar to me. But what we tried was without exception excellent and plentiful. Great complex taste, not afraid of spices, cooked to order quality. My only semi-complaint is that it takes them a while to get the food ready, but I suspect that's because it's really cooked to order. This is now or go-to Indian place. Can't wait to try the restaurant.

Great service and reliably tasty food !!

Went for a dinner with family. We were seated immediately, greeted by a friendly waiter. Our orders were quickly taken and great food was served promptly, Samosa & Lassi followed by main course. We wanted to try a different Mushroom curry and we are glad we did. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and left for home as a happy well-fed family. Needless to say, we will back here soon !!
