Stopped because of #1 rating and it is well deserved. Had Grandma’s specialty pizza and it was delicious. Crust was flavorful and both crisp & chewy. Fresh Roma tomatoes were spectacular. One of the best pizza’s I have ever had. Friendly staff!!!

Best Pizza Ever

Literally the best place ever. Their staff was great, the food was great. The atmosphere was great! I love that it's a chief bar. Big fan!!!

Best pizza, friendly, helpful service

I don’t know why it took us 3 years if CASV visits to finally go here, but once we finally did we went 3 times during our week. Penny & team are great. My daughter and I went in after opening ceremonies and debated margherita or cheese… we decided on margherita. Without asking the chef / owner (?) brought my daughter a slice of cheese and said “just in case”. While there we discussed having our two team party (95 people) there later in the week. After contemplating the layout they decided they couldn’t accommodate that many… but offered other options including hosting the party at Neahwa Park and having pizza delivered… which is exactly what we did, and it worked out perfectly. Best NY pizza I’ve had in a long time, comfortable environment & super friendly & helpful staff. (Penny also gave great recommendations for local & Cooperstown options). Pizza 23 was a big hit… all 3 times!

Unfortunate delivery experience

I usually love the pizza from here but tonight was a different night. I ordered an 18" pie that should have been 1/2 pepperoni and sausage on the left side ONLY with extra cheese on the WHOLE pie via Menufy. Menufy stated I would receive my order by 838pm EST. At 850pm, when I still had not received my order, I called as anyone who had $31 out in the universe would. Upon making the call, I had the pleasure of speaking to the delivery person JJ, who told me he had delivered my pizza to a building where I don't live and left it in the laundry room. When I asked for specifics and why he had not called me, he shared that he called three times and even used due diligence by using the emergency button to contact Campus Safety on the college campus where I live. When I asked what number he called, he shared that he had in fact dialed the last number of my cell # in incorrectly- instead of dialing 7, he had dialed 4- which would explain why I never received any of the calls. The good sir JJ was apologetic and admitted it was his error. All fine. I then calmly requested o speak to the manager as anyone else would in this case. Things took a sharp turn when Penny the manager came on the phone. Penny came on the phone with a raised voice and firmly stated, "He kept calling you! So you can come here and pick it up bc I told him that after 20 mins of trying to contact you that he should come back to the store." Mind you, I still had not shared that JJ admitted to calling the wrong number and that he left the pizza in a random place. When I attempted to share that much and that I wanted a refund, Penny abruptly cut me off, raised her voice another octave and said, "You will not be getting a refund when he delivered it." Feeling myself rise to Penny's level, I did the better thing and especially since she was clearly not in a state of mind where active listening was a priority. I then went on the hunt for my pizza. Here's where it gets fun. Upon calling Campus Safety to inquire if JJ had in fact spoken to someone after pushing the emergency button, the dispatcher said yes he had called but that when they were about to call the number he provided, they saw on the cameras that he had gained access into incorrect residence hall by someone who opened the door at the same time. This prompted the safety dispatcher to believe JJ had met who he needed to thus they never actually called me. When JJ recognized the person who opened the door wasn't waiting for a pizza delivery, he took the opportunity of utilizing the open door and walked in the building to the laundry room where he left the pizza. Upon my entering said laundry room and opening the box - guess what? To add insult to injury, THE ORDER WAS WRONG!!! (The WHOLE pizza PIE had sausage and pepperoni, much to the dismay of my partner who couldn't eat any of it.) Still don't think I deserve that refund Penny? 🙂 Moral of the story- people make mistakes but to not take a moment to actively listen as a manager to a customer when your own employee admitted his mistake is unacceptable.

Excellent Pizza!

We had pizza as a warm up for a birthday party this weekend - hadn't eaten pizza from 23 Pizza in a long while - really good pizza! Huge large pies and the cauliflower pizza was very good too!

Terrific, friendly service, delicious specials and pizza. Very clean comfortable setting. Five in our party, three hungry young men, plenty to take back to the dorm. Have been before, will visit again and again. And saw Ravioli again! It’s a find! Thank you.

Don’t waste your time!

First let me say our first clue this wasn’t going to be an excellent dining experience is when we walked in to be seated there was a dog laying in the middle of the restaurant floor. I don’t mean outside, I mean smack dab in the middle of the restaurant. Secondly we were served pizza that was so thin you couldn’t even pick it up because ALL the cheese and toppings completely fell off. They serve it with real silverware but very thin dollar store paper plates. After the third cut into the paper plate it was so soggy that literally you were eating part of the plate with the pizza! They don’t have fountain Cokes it’s all bottles out of the case, and be forewarned that they take cash only no credit cards. Not to mention, it is extremely pricey! A small thin crust mushroom and green pepper cost $19.75 and their deep dish was almost $25. Albeit, even their small pizza was very large and the pieces were big, it was just extremely hard to eat and had no taste. Save your time, your gas, and your money and find a Pizza Hut.

So sorry you were disappointed with our restaurant. As you see from our reviews, very seldom do we get this feedback. I remember you specifically, and you are correct, we did have a local customer dining with us, who had their service dog with them at their table. Sorry you were offended by this, it’s the law, that they are allowed (we would allow even if not the law...that is the kind of restaurant we run - very often we have our dog visit the pizzeria...people love him.) You are correct, we do serve original NY style pizza...thin crust. And NY style pizza is not “cut”...however, we realize some people from other areas, eat their pizza differently, and had you asked, we would have given you a glass plate. You will also see that our prices are in line with every other pizzeria in our area. We realize this review is more in line with you not being able to bring in your own drinks (because this violates our liquor license). My opinion would be if you can’t afford a pizza, need to bring in your own drinks, and can’t be around people that have disabilities, that next time you stay home! Because what you’re looking for is an expensive dining experience and it’s obvious you can’t afford that.

Excellent GF Options

I am writing this after 2 meals from the GF perspective. Located a mile from All Star Village, this is a highly rated truly local pizza-Italian bar/restaurant. The crust on the GF was listed as a cauliflower crust, and was excellent. I loved the red sauce and we had both a cheese and no-cheese with veggies pizza - excellent. The garden salad was large, fresh, served with an entire cut tomato, 4 large quality olives and a ton of shredded mozzarella. The Italian dressing was also delicious. The staff kept checking and the owner came out near the end of the meal to talk to us about the meal and the GF pizza. I had ordered a carry out meal the night before our visit and the others enjoyed the various salads and regular pizzas. It was a very good value and a great meal.

While driving back from Florida, the local front desk agent at the Hampton Inn suggested Pizza 23 West and what a great find it was. Hasn't had pizza much on our trip and had a serious need for some good pizza and that is what we got. Marvelous great pizza!!!!!

THEE best pizza and great family dining

We love this place. The pizza is the best I have ever had-my family also enjoys the bread knots, wings, pasta dishes, everything we have ordered we have enjoyed. The price of the meal is extremely reasonable and we appriciated the very generous wine pours! We are from Vermont and visit every couple months when we pass through to visit family in Pennsylvania. Even worth a trip if you have to travel out of the way a bit. Family owned and operated, wonderful people. We are so glad we stumbled on to this great little Italian restaurant.
