We arrived at Hot Waves during a torrential downpour so it was lovely to be able to sink into the lounge chairs with hot chocolates and some very excellent burgers for lunch. There is beautiful art on the walls and in the next room. The food was great and although on the pricey side, we felt it was of good... More

Had morning tea once & breakfast here twice over 3 days. Awesome foods & sensational coffee. Warm & cozy on a cold winter morning. Friendly staff.

We arrived at Hot Water Beach at about 10am on Saturday morning. The sun was shining but the air was bitingly cold. We decided to go have breakfast to warm up, except that the only restaurant right on the beach, Hotties, was closed - which is quite odd for a weekend as the beach was quite busy already. We decided... More

We went down to the Hot Water beach and stopped in for breakfast on the way back and were very impressed with everything. Great mocha, superb mushrooms and all the staff were very friendly and nice. We've already planned to go back there for breakfast tomorrow as it was so good.

My wife & I have been going to Hot Waves for many years and have always enjoyed it. But not this time ... We drove around 35Km from Tairua specially to have lunch there. The service was rather offhand, and not especially friendly. We ordered at the counter and sat at a table in the pleasant garden area. We were... More

Nice food but poor hospitality. Unfriendly staff who didn't even acknowledge you when they brought your food to the table. Obviously they were having a bad day but that's no excuse.

We read about the place and the name implied one would see the waves. It is a poky cafe tucked into a garden. No ocean. Again an order at counter place- no table service. Menu pathetically limited. Settled on steak sandwich. The lettuce and tomatoes were divinely fresh. My bread was so thinly cut it broke - so no sandwich.... More

The cafe was recommended to us by our hosts where we were staying in Hot Water Beach. It was open mic night on Good Friday. The queue to order food wasn't that long but it was slow. Only one poor lady taking orders and making drinks at the same time. We sat around the back as the music was too... More
