Nice Italian food in a lovely setting

We visited this restaurant as a family with young children for dinner. We chatted to the waiter Marco, who was very friendly and helpful and made our evening really pleasant with attentive, but not obtrusive, service. We enjoyed a starter of pejerrey (a local white fish) filleted and fried in a light batter. The fish was fresh and tasty. Our children had that for their main course, alongside some chips that came to the table looking a bit pale. Presumably, the frying oil hadn't been hot enough when they were cooked, which is a pity for such a minor thing. Nevertheless, they ate them all happily. Advised by Marco, my husband and I had the ravioli of prawn and zucchini - an excellent choice! The homemade pasta was perfect, the prawn filling fresh and plentiful and the creamy sauce tasted so amazing, we asked for extra bread to mop it all up! Amongst the desserts, the passion fruit cheesecake stood up as particularly delicious. The ambience is lit by soft lights/candles, with greenery, wood and gentle music. There is a little playhouse that our children loved spending time in. Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant for a pleasant evening and praise Marco for offering great service as our waiter.

a really good little Italian restaurant in a surfer town about 12 blocks from the beach. it's one of the best places in town. the exterior and interior are quite pretty. inside you feel like you're in someone's home complete with fireplace and a very talented musical duo to add to the ambience or you can sit outside and enjoy the porch and the view of all of the greenery and flowers. it is a very special and charming place. the food is also quite good. i had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. it was topped with cheese and onion which i did not care for but once i scraped it off there was a really tasty piece of meat underneath. the appetizer of bacon wrapped shrimp with an asian sauce was really good but a tad dry. and the dulce leche ice cream was good too. they only offer one red and one white wine by the glass unfortunately. the bottle list was a little better. the service was pretty good but at times the one waiter was a little overwhelmed. next time i am in Punta del Diablo this will be one of my stops.

Disappointing steak

We had dinner on two nights at Il Tano Cucina. The atmosphere was good. The service was friendly. The first night was good we had the ravioli and fish dishes. The second night the entrecôte steak my husband had was disappointing - more gristle and fat than lean meat. He has eaten several steaks in Uruguay and this was probably the poorest quality. Hopefully a one off.

We read about Il Tano Cucina

We read about Il Tano Cucina in Guru’guay and were excited to go and have something that we assumed would be reliably good. Instead our meal was bad. It started with bland bread served with hummus (why would you serve bread with hummus at an Italian restaurant?). We then had a salad which was fine. Finally, our entrees were notably bad. Mine had shrimp that seemed frozen and was pretty fishy. My mom had the vegetable ravioli like dish that at best tasted like nothing and at worst actually tasted bad. How can vegetables and red sauce taste bad? Neither of us finished our dishes and we hurried out of there. It was disappointing, especially for the price.

Always a pleasure to come to this restaurant. Today, we had the octopus carpaccio - absolutely fantastic - and the local fish, which was exquisite. Service was friendly and courteous, as always. We always come back to this place, it really is a gem in Punta del Diablo.

Very attractive restaurant away from center of town (if you could call it that), so you need transportation to get to it. Very lovely atmosphere, fine service, and excellent food. On the expensive side, but worth it.

The worst experience I’ve ever had. My 5th time in this paradise PDD, but this is something that I want To forget. Bad food, bad service and worst than all, attendance.

Nice place, good menu, fairly decent food

We had a nice evening, the staff are very nice, the food is good, and the outside seating is in a characterful ambient setting. I would recommend for the overall experience and some of the food was very good.

Great choice in Punda del Diablo!

Located very close to our accommodation and one of the few restaurants we found open in early December we tried our Il Tano Cucina several nights for dinner. Every time we were met with great service and great tasting food, both fish and steak. Highly recommend to try out their bife ancho - perfecto!

Great food and good service

This restaurant was highly rated in Punta del Diablo, so we had to go. We thought the food and service were both very good. We shared a squid starter and for mains we had fish and a seafood pasta - all the food was very good and the pasta is handmade on site. It was more expensive than other restaurants in Punta del Diablo, but I think it was worth it. Also it was one of the few restaurants in Uruguay where they didn't expect us to tip (even though we did). It is not centrally located, however I think it's worth going out of the way for.

Very good food, a bit pricey though. Pasta was delicious, so was curry chicken. Desert not great. Price on the upper end. Highly recommended.

Always a good choice in PDD

Not my first visit on this rustic beach restaurant, It serves italian dishes with a beach touch. This time our choices were 2 kinds of dumpling as starters, one made with seaweed and the other one with fish, both delicious. As main courses we had a steak with potato and veggies and a risotto nero di sepia, extremely tasteful. The only problem with the restaurant is that they dont have aircon and also the attention is not special.

Okay but could be better

It is a lovely spot, with lights everywhere and a beautiful garden. The wine list is good and So is the service. I ordered steak which was lovely but my husbands fettuccini was very, very bland. All and all- average.

Overpriced
