We booked Bohemian for a recent dinner because it was walking distance from our hotel, the Marriott Surf Club, and on the promise of its reviews. It exceeded our expectations. When you walk into the restaurant through it’s giant doors it’s like being transported off the main road and into a beautiful tropical Caribbean resort. The atmosphere, service, cuisine and live music all set the stage for a wonderful dining experience. Our server Adrian was phenomenal. Made sure to get our order on hold with the chef right away as they had a limited number of fresh chargrilled lobster specials. Three of us had it and it was SO good. Melt in your mouth. As was the grilled octopus and Coq a vin. The musicians hit all the right notes, playing lovely salsa/Latin tunes that didn’t overwhelm dinner conversation. And the owner came around to check on us. Always a welcome touch. We had a dining/ entertainment card from the Marriott that gave us each a glass of house wine and 5% off the bill making it one of the most reasonably priced meals we ate at $210 for 4 without tip. And that includes an additional bottle of wine we purchased. Even without the card it’s a good value for such good food. Nice wine list with some good values. We will definitely be returning here when in Aruba.

Our family was able to score last minute availability during Easter Sunday and we were so happy that it worked out. For folks that prefer to have dinner along the beach staring at a sunset instead of being surrounded by massive bonsai trees, eclectic lamps, and awesome lounge music playing softly in the background, I say look no further. The service was like no other, servers coming to the table to check on you frequent enough but not overly intrusive. Now for the food, yes the grilled octopus is all that. I’ve traveled to Europe on multiple occasions and the grilled octopus at Bohemian topped some restaurants in Spain. I highly recommend the fish special of the day, which was pan seared snapper with rice and vegetables, the French onion soup and most importantly the seafood and fish soup entree. The Moroccan spiced fish kebab was good but not excellent. For dessert, I high recommend anything with their banana ice cream, or just have the ice cream on it’s own, very delicious. If you visit between 6-7pm you also get to enjoy really good wine and drinks for happy hours prices which makes everything even better. Hope to visit again someday.

This place is like a fairytale surrounded by huge trees and decor lighting. The romantic atmosphere was enhanced by Spanish musical duo. They were magical!! The food was amazing. Everything on the menu was amazing , we tried most appetizers and five different entrees. Wine selection is great !! All staff were pleasant and happy!! A young staff member JP came back to us to inform us that it seemed that we overpaid our bill by $100 as couple of bills were stuck together ! Unbelievable!! This is a must visit in Aruba!!!

We might as well begin with a review of the service since that was truly the highlight of our evening, taking away from what was to be a pleasant date night. First, the hostess would not tell us how long it would be after our reservation time when we would be seated. She told us to sit at the bar, and we were ultimately sat because we literally went and sat at an empty table, and told a manager that we would be sitting there, nearly 45 minutes after our reservation time and after speaking with the hostess/managers 3 times. Additionally, people that came here with reservations were still quoted a wait time of 45 minutes, and one couple had to wait an hour! Second, we had to ask 2 different people to bring us a menu, which they didn’t even have enough of. Thankfully, a manager Tony, the only attentive person working here, took our order. Next, we had to ask 3 people to bring us bread and water. Fourth, after we had our appetizers, after 28 minutes of waiting, we asked a waiter to pick up our empty dishes. Now, as we are writing this, 30 minutes after that we still do not have fresh silverware. We are sitting next to a couple that has waited 40 minutes for their check. We ordered our entrees an hour ago and they are nowhere to be seen. I’ve seen 3 waiters/bussers pacing around the restaurant and not a single one of them is doing anything other than walking around, looking at tables that need help, then walking away. I will say, the entertainment was wonderful (flamenco band) and the manager Tony was lovely. We enjoyed the tuna tartare, French onion soup, and lamb shank. I certainly hope that they improve their service so that this restaurant can last.

Dear Raeb, Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to write such a detailed comment. It helps us greatly in improving our service. We are glad that you enjoyed all the food and the live entertainment. Last night, the 1st of January does not come near our standards of service... It was a pretty hectic night with delays and a lack of organisation in our reservations (Many Hotel guests are used to make 3 to 4 reservations in differents restaurants every day during the Holidays and decide at the last moment where to go, which means that usually out of our 300 only 250 show up. We had scheduled 3 Hostesses and our full wait and buss staff... Most are young and new in the industry, love to party on the 31st and didn't come to work next day. It left us with One hostess, and temporal staff hired at the last minute. Please accept our apologies, we hope you'll give us another chance to make it right... David

We were so looking forward to this dinner. The menu is fantastic - so many options. However, soon after we arrived we realized that the restaurant was NOT taking the safe social distancing protocols seriously. And this is after Aruba reported 75 new cases of COVID-19 today...patrons were permitted to roam the restaurant with NO MASKS on. Mind you, the tables are not very far apart. There were a group of 4 women that stood less than 4ft from our table with NO MASKS on for 20 minutes to do a personal photo shoot. No one from the restaurant reprimanded them or asked them to put their masks on. Another table full of patrons actually got up and moved because they felt so uncomfortable. We asked the women to please move away from our table, but to little avail. The food was delicious, but the service was rather slow. We ordered a bottle of wine and yet everyone that ordered a glass of wine at nearby tables (arriving after us) got their wine first. The waiter came by the table, but only when the food was first delivered, not when we actually needed something. After dinner, we waited almost 15 minutes for the dessert menu and then and no one came back to take our dessert order, so when they finally returned, we decided not to get anything. Especially after the 4 women were so close to our table and the staff did nothing. If you are cautious about the Coronavirus or immune compromised, this is not the best place to visit on the island right now. It’s truly a shame because the cocktails, appetizers, and entrees were delicious and the music and ambiance are great. However, it’s not worth it if the safety protocols are not being monitored correctly. Probably won’t be returning again.

Dear CMGarcia3, Thank you for your feedback, we are very happy you have enjoyed your food and cocktails at Bohemian. I can assure you that safety protocols are very important to us and we do go by them. We were the first restaurant in Aruba to close in March at the beginning of this crisis. Last week when more cases were diagnosed on the island we did close again for 5 days and had all our staff tested, we opened Tuesday with the OK of the Aruban hygiene department and with a skeleton crew. All the tables are spaced according to protocols which change daily. All guests must use one of the many hand sanitizers we have at the entrance and around the restaurant. As much as it hurts for business we do refuse groups and family who do not want to split in tables of four.. (various time a day). We try to monitor the movement of the guests and we rearrange the restaurant daily. We do as well expect from our guests to use their common sense while dining with us. We are an open air garden restaurant with a natural air ventilation. The four models were in between tables taking picture on our swing for a couple of minutes, having the manager starting a conversation with the 4 of them would have make it more uncomfortable and added more people around. One gentlemen stood up and sat next to his wife on the other side of the table. Sometimes things happen by themself and there is no need to police the people! we are all learning how to live with this "new normal" rules and try hard to adapt on daily basis. It was a pleasure having you at Bohemian and we hope to see you soon again David

We came for valentines day and had an awesome night. There was live music starting at 6:45pm and there was a happy hour $5 wine and $6 select cocktails until 7pm. We got a 6pm reservation which was totally the move to take advantage of the happy hour! We ordered the braised lamb which fell off the bone and substituted the cous cous for vegetables and were so glad we did – the veggies were so tasty. We also ordered molten lava cake which we enjoyed. What is most memorable is the ambiance – you are sitting in a literal forest wonderland. Trees and cool architecture all around the outdoor seating area.

We stopped at Bohemian twice during our stay for pre-dinner cocktails, happy hour wine and appetizers. They offered sparking rose at 1/2 price during happy hour as well as some very nice appetizers. We enjoyed the tuna tartare and shrimp au cognac. Both were excellent. Next time we're in Aruba, we'll absolutely stop here for dinner. I give it one star for the ambiance otherwise it doesn’t deserve that. We walked in off the street around 7:30pm and were impressed initially. The service was bad. Servers were closing the restaurant down 20 minutes after we were seated just after we placed our order. Candles were being removed from neighboring tables and we were asked if we wanted dessert before our appetizers were even brought to us. My water was refilled once, after our meal was completed. I ordered the seafood stew “bouillabaisse” style which I’ve order from many other restaurants. It’s my favorite meal. It came out as a broth (no tomatoes, no garlic, no fennel, no onion as advertised on the menu) with a very skimpy amount of bland seafood tossed on top. One of the two mussels I was given was still closed (which means it’s bad). I did not eat the dish. The manager came over to ask about it and when I pointed out that it was a slack attempt at bouillabaisse seafood stew, yet she tried to tell me this is how it was made. She became defensive and treated me as if I didn’t know what I had ordered. No apologies for the subpar attempt, and it wasn’t worth our time to continue to discuss it with her. We paid in full, and will not be returning. Don’t let the ambiance tempt you. There are so many other restaurants that place a higher regard to their quality of service and their dishes.

Dear Stephanie, Thank you so much for your review and giving me the opportunity to explain you and our readers... As one of our lovely visitor you are aware of the curfew in place in Aruba it starts at 10pm, for that reason all restaurants must be totally closed and empty of guests and employees by 9pm, meaning your cash register must be closed as well, it takes a while to count money, separate tips, make sure all amount are correct etc... The restaurant as well, is in a garden so yes all candles and accessories must be taken inside.... If you are familiar with a business you will know what I mean. It takes time. Sorry it bothered you it was done in front of you. But if the staff or anyone is late on the road going home they will get a $600 fine and have to spend the night in Jail... Believe me I know what I'm talking about. Yes the waitress asked if you wanted a dessert because our kitchen closes at 8 for the same reason as I just said. Now concerning the Fish soup "Bouillabaisse style" it is not a fish stew. It's a fish soup made of many varieties of fishes, lobster head, garlic, onion, fennel, tomato, Pastis.... Simmered, mixed and pass threw a strainer. With this soup you will cook the fish a la minute, Shrimps, mussels or whatever seafood you want to put in. So Yes we have all the ingredients said in the description. Concerning the mussels: " A strong urban myth has been telling us since the 1970's to "discard mussels that don't open that they are unsafe to eat". Mussel growers know – as do most good chefs, there is nothing wrong with a mussel that refuses to open while being cooked. Just over 10% of mussels will stay closed after being cooked and depending on cooking time. As it is steamed, the mussel opens when the abductor muscle inside the shell breaks. If that abductor muscle does not sever or separate from the shell, then the mussel will not open. Closed mussels can be cooked a little longer or the shell open with a knife. " Cordialement, David N

Wow! This restaurant is just perfect! Sitting outside in a comfortable backyard setting feels like home. The food is incredible. French and world cuisine- all dishes were cooked perfectly. They have early bird specials which are 3 course meals and their prices are very reasonable especially for the amount of food you get! The owner cones around - a wonderful friendly guy who is truly interested in providing the best food and service. I highly recommend visiting !!

First the restaurant did not have my reservation when I got there I made an online reservation from my home and got an email confirmation. When I got to Aruba I called to make sure they still had the reservation and they did. When I got to restaurant they said they did not have a reservation. Told to check again. They insisted that I did not make the reservation. I pulled out my I phone and showed them the confirmation. They were not happy because they were wrong . I should have know how the evening was goingto go. We ordered 3 seafood dishes. 2 were ok and 1 was overcooked. We had 2 chicken dishes that were not edible . The r,0?0season and your parents have 0estaurant mgr was not very sempathic They took 1 chicken dish off the bill. The device was below average and raw chicken is not acceptable. Pl0 Would not recommend this to anyone...

We had an issue with one of the dishes not being suited to one of our family members. We only asked that we substitute another dish for the uneaten food. The manager refused our request outright, although our tab was well over $250 for four with starters, entrees, and cocktails. Unbelievable that a restaurant with the obvious ambitions as they seem to have can be so tone deaf to the satisfaction of a diner. The other entrees - lamb shank and mussels - were competent but nowhere near fine dining levels. Perhaps they believe as tourists we are only passing through. Don’t be a sucker. Lots of other brilliant food to be had in the area, pick a restaurant where the management cares. While I’m at it, you should avoid the place because their house music is as if Pink Floyd and Daft Punk had a really ugly music baby and played it so loud you can’t talk to your dinner companions. Yet another reason to avoid.

Dear Robert Thank you so much for your feedback and giving me the opportunity to explain the other side of the story. You said your dish was too salty, which of course could have happened, and in that case, there is no discussion about it but I tried it, the chef tried it, the manager tried it. I’m really sorry but it does taste the way it’s supposed to and was not salty at all, as a matter of fact I just had a chat with another guest who was raving about that dish. There was no reason for us to take that dish of the bill, what should I do with it?? Threw it away? And you frightened the manager with posting negative review?? I do care very much about my restaurant, the ambiance, the music, the service and the food and will keep to do so You are always welcome here Saludos, David

Everything started off good then came to the main courses which when I received my dish it tasted very off. We brought this to our waiters attention and she was kind enough to see what could be done (granted I had taken maybe 2-3 bites, not much at all from the dish). Then we were introduced to the manager and said she could not exchange the dish for the minimal amount I had eaten but disliked a lot. We had mentioned multiple times that there was barely anything eaten at all but she said “it’s not my call it’s the owners” (who wasn’t at the restaurant but still said no to the dish being recalled or exchanged). Despite the minimal amount that was eaten we were still charged full price of $49! Absolutely ridiculous in my book, tonight I was dinning with a group with a tab well over $250 - go spend your hard earned money elsewhere at any other place I would say. End of the story, never spending a dime here again!!! (It also my understanding he owns Casa Tua so I would avoid that too) Also, don’t bother asking for the manager… she apparently holds no power….

Really disappointing dinner at Bohemian last night. This is one of our favorites on Aruba & sad to see the food quality go down since our visit just 6 months ago. The place has a great & friendly wait staff and a fun vibe dining under the trees. However, rib eye was all fat & tasted like it was cooked on a greasy flat top. Same for the lobster & shrimp pasta which was also disappointing with greasy & overcooked lobster tail.

Dear Charlieanddrick, So sorry to ear your dinner was not to your liking, we do not use a hot iron plate but a grill... And the grill master cleans it on a regular basis to avoid grease to stick on the meat... We however brush the meat with a mix of olive oil and herbs that while cooking burns on the meat to give it a slight flavor. And yes we chose rib eye with a lot of fat for a better flavor! David

Nice experience at this restaurant. Very attentive host. Awesome experience with the mixologist at the bar! Food was great However need a little improvement with service at the table... a little slow service and some details like ordered hot tea and water came cold. Some dishes I can recommend: the onion soup, foie gras, pata negra board.

Beautiful ambiance in a garden like setting, servers are dressed stylishly and the food is simply excellent. We loved it so much, we went twice!!! Go for the early bird menu if dining between 5-7 is your time. Wine is reasonably priced (and extensive list to compliment), and a three course meal is accompanied. Highly recomment. Both children loved their filet mignon!! Merci!
