We visited this hotel for lunch. The food selection is wide and consists of local Zanzibari dishes. The food is good and tasty. The food is affordable/cheap. As a tourist when you want to have a nice simple and affordable meal this is the place to visit. It's not a place for a romantic lunch or dinner. It's your ordinary... More

We visited the place yesterday and had some chicken, fish soup and the squid. We enjoyed the food which was cooked in local style so we visited also today. I can recommend this place to everyone who are seeking nice local food with a very good price.

Affordable well cooked meals should be their greeting message, every time i think of another place to eat i’d be thinking while having a meal at lukmaan. And the wisest thing that comes to mind is to stay put. Lukmaan is arabic for wise btw. Go figure.

We really liked it here! It is a bit chaotic, but that adds to the charm. The staff are super helpful and the fresh fruit juices are tasty. It also doesn't break the budget.

Lukmaan was recommended to us as a place that serves great local food. The restaurant is pretty small and is off the beaten path. When we approached the restaurant (for a late dinner) it was pretty busy with both locals and tourists. We both ordered rice and beef masala (although there was no beef on the masala). The food was... More

A small restaurant, with inside and outside tables. You queue up and select at the counter. Staff speak English. Prices are good - c.8000tzs for fish curry, rice and 1l water.

Lukmaan is perfect to grab cheap local food. You can sit down, but also suitable for take-aways. Very happy about our dinner =)

Monday night and the restaurant was busy with a constant flow of customers (local and tourists) The food is hot local cuisine, freshly prepared and served in abundance. Well maintained dining area with clean tables and wonderful friendly customer service. A great atmosphere and dining experience at minimal cost, we will return!

Given that my favorite taxi and tour guide in Zanzibar is named Lukman (I also reviewed him), I had to come visit this restaurant (different spelling). I've eaten here twice on this visit and the food was good both times. It is local food and in my opinion, a place every tourist should come at least once. I should note... More

Great choice of food, all delicious, decent portions and insanely cheap compared to the rest of Stone Town. The guy serving us was very patient, explaining what each dish was with a smile. If you have space after your first plateful you can go up more than one time to try some different dishes. We were annoyed with ourselves for... More
