I stayed in Kate, which they say is the best (although I had a sneak peak in the others and they all looked fantastic). Kate didn't disappoint with 2 balconies over looking stone town and a gorgeous four poster Zanzibar bed. The hotel is fantastically decorated and the service is second to none I have genuinely not stayed anywhere where... More

I Visited Emerson and Spice last Monday 17 October 2016 and the experience keep playing back in my mind it was such a memorable afternoon/ evening, overlooking the sunset from the roof top whilst enjoying a cocktail and listening to the Moskt in the back ground It truly felt like I was going back in time experiencing the traditional stone... Tired and slightly bedraggled after my journey I felt a tad underdressed and nervous entering the sumptuous reception on the ground floor but was instantly put at ease by the enthusiastic and smiling welcome. The maitre-d ran through the menu and asked if I had any dietary requirements. Formalities over I started the climb to the roof. A small (20ish... More

This intimate rooftop restaurant is as much about the food as it is about the experience. Sip a champagne cocktail as you watch the sun dip into the Indian Ocean and listen to the call for prayer echo through magical old town. The food is exquisite, with attention to using fresh, local ingredients and a fusion of cultures. The service... More

An incredible building and done up beautifully. Service was top class. Food was excellent (and is prepared by a chef in front of you.) It was more than an evening out - it was an experience. Zanzibari and fabulous!

I think this is actually my first Trip Advisor review, but I felt obliged to write this one because we chose this restaurant based on reviews from this site. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary early this year with a trip to Zanzibar. I'd read all the fab reviews about Emerson Spice on this site and we immediately... More

Thank you for taking the time to send us your valuable feedback. I’m sorry that you both found our Seafood Tasting Menu wanting. Chef Edina, her Team and I were very concerned to read that you found nothing on the menu enjoyable. Rest assured, we always work together to improve our repertoire of dishes and enhance our guest experience. Your... More

We had read a lot about this dinner so our expectations where pretty high. Sundowner cocktails was good but only 1 of the 5 courses was super good, 2 where good and the 2 other where so-so. Maybe we where unlucky that the today's menu wasn't for us. Service was slower that what we've experienced in Zanzibar and other places,... More

We ate there last night, the food was pretty average (not bad, not very delicious though, I mean I ate better food in India and Sri Lanka, for way less but okay) and the view is a little bit far from the sea specially at night. It's a perfect place for a drink while the sea is visible but not... More

Dear Kirill, Thank you for writing a very puzzling review. Perhaps you have posted it to the wrong restaurant? The Tea House at Emerson Spice serves a daily changing, five course Seafood based, Zanzibari Fusion, tasting menu, yet you refer to better Indian Fusion restaurants in Paris, plus the food in India and Sri Lanka. Seating only twenty-four diners on... More

Had a preset five course dinner at the rooftop restaurant at Emerson Spice with the wife. All the items on the menu were delicious and cooked with attention to detail. The wine list was good although the cocktail list could use a little more "creativity" combining local spices and ingredients with the usual culprits. The staff was extremely nice and... More
