Book and visit the roof for their tasting menu in intimate surroundings and a view of Stone Town. The stairs work up an appetite.

I decided to treat myself to a night at the Emerson Spice. The price is of the western variety, but the environment and food makes it worth it. It is absolutely worth getting there early for a drink to catch the sunset. The food was very good, although things stood out more than others. The menu changes daily, but will... More

We ate at the Secret Garden as we couldn't get a restaurant at the top. I would suggest the rooftop restaurant, but you have to book waaaayy in advance. The secret garden was beautiful!!! We went for dinner so it was dark. The mood was romantic and minimal lighting. The place was surrounded by plants and the building was almost... More

We were referred to the Secret Garden by Emerson on Hurumzi where we were staying. It is the sister hotel of Emerson Spice. What a delightful surprise! Turned out to be the best dinner of our stay in StoneTown. The atmosphere, the food, the service and the price. We took our own wine along and were not charged corkage, which... More

Dear Fransie, Thank you so much for choosing to dine at The Secret Garden and for writing such a lovely review. We're delighted that you enjoyed the evening so much. Just to let you know, however, that our Team were in error when they neglected to charge corkage for your own wine. In fact we do apply a Corkage Charge... More

Ok, there are two different restaurants at Emerson Spice. I would love to try out the roof one, but couldn't get a reservation the day i went so we ate at the secret garden. I'm a vegetarian so i only had one option, and i like options. The food was very very good. It took long to come, but i... More

This place did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The view stunning. Sitting up there listening to the call to prayer was very peaceful. The staff were fasting over Ramadan and we're still able to go above and beyond. Book in advance as even in low season was busy. A memorable evening. We usually stay away from touristy thing but... This is truly the best restaurant in Stone Town. The prices are a little bit high when compared to other restaurants but it is truly worth it. We had a 5 course meal including wine for 2 persons and each dish was wonderful. We paid a little bit more than 100 USD which is a lot for Stone Town but... More

This is a world class dinner. If you only have one dinner, this is it. It is $40, lots for your money. Five fabulous courses. Scenic rooftop. Watched the sunset. Great wines by the glass. The manager of the hotel, Russell is very helpful. Eat here. You are welcome.

Great multi-course fixed-menu meal. Very seafood-oriented. Interesting combinations of flavours. Service is very good. Lovely views from the rooftop. Expensive but not outrageous.
