Let's start at arrival - hostess was very matter of fact - not welcoming at all as you would expect at a fine dining restaurant - she really didn't speak to us. She led us to the table and came back with water and a...second time with napkins and silverware. Our server came over, let us know the specials, and asked us if we were good with the water on the table or would we be wanting something else. We've never heard thatquestion before. Appetizers were good. I enjoyed my swordfish but the dining experience was ruined. My wife ordered the filet medium - it was very rare. She brought a bread plate over, asked my wife to put it on the plate and left with it. It was brought back on the same plate with a see how that is now. Definitely was not a fine dining experience.More

My wife and I were in Warrensburg for an overnight golf trip and we remembered how we loved the Grist Mill a decade ago. It may have changed ownership but it is still Top Notch!!! You cannot find a more beautiful place to dine. We...reserved a table in the enclosed porch and listened to and viewed the beautiful Schroon River. We had an excellent server named Ryan. She was very attentive to us and knew the menu by heart. I had the best scallops ever. That was just the appetizer. The haddock dinner was to die for. My wife raved over he Asian spring roll app and her stacked eggplant dinner. We can't wait to come back again. Only one thing was not right. The manager disciplined poor Ryan for seating us where she did.A customer shouldn't hear internal problems.More

My wife and I always make The Grist Mill a must visit during one of our three weeks while vacationing at Lake George. Simply a great relaxing dining experience... A nice interesting place with excellent service and great meals.

Nice menu selection. We enjoyed our meal very much. We sat in the tavern, but ordered off the main menu. A little on the pricey side, though.

We had not been to the Grist Mill in a few years, but decided to take a ride for our anniversary and visit it again. Glad we did. We are on the downstairs screened porch overlooking the Schroon River - a lovely setting. Our server...Julia was efficient and friendly. We had celebratory drinks, mine a Mill Mash (really good) and wife had a Lemon Vodka drink she liked too. The Burrata salad and New England Chowder were also very good. Our main dishes, an Eggplant Stack for my wife, and my Shrimp & Scallops over fettuccine with spinach were both delicious and prepared perfectly. Portions were very good sized so that we each brought some home to save room for dessert, the special lemon flavored Creme Brûlée. Very delicate flavor. Because of the Coronavirus, seating was well spaced, and staff wore masks. We felt very safe!More

We had a very nice dinner here, just after restaurants could re-open and it was our first dinner out since February. Everyone's doing their best to keep diners safe. Our server was very warm and lovely. We had a GREAT baked chevre dish featuring Nettle...Meadow, a local cheese company. Then I had the venison and my husband had the salmon, both terrific and a nice wine list. Beautiful view on second floor and you may want to even ask for a seat on the lower/first floor as that deck/patio sits almost right on the creek, just gorgeous. And the grist mill is fascinting - they did a great job featuring the original functions of the space. Thanks for a wonderful experience.More

We were celebrating our 51st anniversary so I wanted it to be special. Merrill-Magee Restaurant was closed for the winter and someone recommended The Grist Mill. Good choice. I had the fillet and venison tips Stroganoff which was delicious, and my wife had the Oscar’s...smoked pork chop, and it was the most tender and delicious chop in memory. We had a slice of eggnog cheese cake and it too was great. Definitely a do-again spot!More

We enjoyed excellent service, a great scenic fall view of the Schroon River, tasty cocktails and very nicely presented and yummy appetizers and entrees. From appetizer to coffee and dessert, our experience was superb.

The setting of the restaurant (repurposed old grist mill on the bank of the Schroon River) and the elegant appointments and service inside made me want to love this place. The menu prices were appropriate for an upper-quality experience, but unfortunately the food didn't deliver....I can't say that it wasn't good, but the food didn't match the price or the setting. The entree (a stuffed chicken breast) was bland and short on the stuffing. The appetizer was OK but meager for the price. It is by far the nicest restaurant in town, so I wish the food were better.More

Well, the beef is usually a special. Generally it is a porterhouse running around $38.00. So if there is a filet, i would think it was a bit less. Bloody Mary, also not a drink I ever order and not sure it is even on the... More
