It's always nice when a place lives up to the hype. My friends had wanted to try La Plage for a while. They ordered beef and seafood dishes (I was tempted to try the seafood. They had a good selection on the menu). I chanced the duck. It doesn't matter if it's on Long Island, it can be done incompetently anywhere. Thankfully, they got it exactly right! The Duck Breast was perfectly prepared, flavorful and lean. We all enjoyed our dinners, and the company at some of the other tables as we discussed the food. The apps were very good, and the service was great. Take note, in Summer some tables are a little close to the air conditioning, but they had no problem or attitude about moving our party when we asked. We had reservations, and I'd suggest going there without them is too risky. Not large, but seats a decent crowd. Not much parking right out front. Please note: You cannot park in the municipal lot across the road, but if the main lot is full, there's another lot two properties to the right; you're asked to not park in the lot to the immediate right. Pleasant area and great views.

Unpretentious, understated and elegant, La Plage exemplifies what a fine restaurant should be. We celebrated Valentine’s Day and enjoyed their creative price fixe menu. For an amuse bouche we had chicken wings with caviar and tuna with a mild wasabi dressing. We enjoyed the well prepared mahi mahi and drank a smooth merlot wine. Dessert was a spectacular combination of creme brûlée, meringue and a decadent chocolate cake. Our waitress was friendly and efficient and catered to our every whim. Definitely a special occasion venue

This place is amazing. They know what they’re doing and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, some french classics and some twists, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. It is my absolute favorite restaurant in Wading River. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in.

Heard many good things about this restaurant but never visited until last Sunday. My wife went out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The place is way up on the north shore. It is located across from the sound but no view of it. Greeted nicely and taken to our table. Unfortunately the waiter had no personality. Ordered two appetizers, Lobster & Ricotta Ravioli and the burrata. The ravioli was excellent, the burrata was not. The bread that the burrata sat on was supposed to be grilled but it was burnt. Also had way too much sauces on it that took away from the taste of the cheese For dinner we ordered the Duck Leg Confit and thePappardelle Pasta. The duck leg was great but my wife as turned off by the pasta. The taste was good but the clams had some sand in them which was displeasing The service was just OK, but he had no personality and never smiled which was disappointing

We recently dined at La Plage for dinner and everything was perfect. The wine, the food, the interactions and stories from servers and hostess. We were seated outdoors, per our request in the bar area and were all pleased with the level of attention and flow of courses delivered. Definitely a must!

We visited to celebrate my birthday. La Plage is a local treasure. Wonderful food, beautifully prepared in a simple but lovely setting. The service is professional while being friendly and warm. I had one of the special cocktails, a coconut margarita - yum! Ok so maybe I had two. We had quite a variety across the 4 of us- all had apps and dessert as well. Everything was delicious and presented wonderfully. A+. *a word to the wise - this restaurant is SMALL and if you want to eat here on a weekend (especially during the summer) —make a reservation!

It was a lovely August day when my husband and I decided to head over for lunch to La Plage, a charming waterfront bistro with outdoor seating where we dine from time to time. I was not surprised that all tables but one appeared to be filled, considering the ideal weather and the continuing indoor dining restrictions due to COVID-19. We noted that there was a single table for two at the patio's edge. As the spot was ideally located for my husband, who is handicapped, he started toward it. A hostess immediately emerged from inside the building and gestured toward me. Thinking that she was about to say the table was reserved, I alerted my husband not to sit down. I apologized to the hostess for not waiting to be seated and commented that I was presuming the table had been reserved. However, that turned out not to be the case. During our polite conversation, the hostess explained that, although the web site noted that lunch was served until 3 p.m, she was not permitted to seat anyone after 2:30. I looked at my watch and it was 2:33. It seemed reasonable to me that good judgement would have permitted her to seat us at that last empty table - immediately accessible to wait staff and not necessitating any inconvenience to other diners. However, the hostess repeated her refusal and we left, leaving that one lone table for two set and empty and a server with one less tip. Just as small acts of graciousness are remembered, so are small disappointments in places from which better is expected.

The overall diner was excellent starting from cocktail and Sancerre rosè. Mussels were well cooked with the polenta, corn soup was creamy , little sweet but good with crab meat, pork belly bao was tasty. Short rib entrèe was well cooked, same as the pork osso buco , more a pork shank. Duck confit was excellent. The main point was all sides were cooked as they should be, like the couscous , the risotto and pasta. Good attention to detail

This is five-star dining! Stopped in for lunch. Had heard about the restaurant but had never been. What a pleasant surprise. We were the first guests to arrive and were seated by the window with a view of the Sound. Lovely. The prix fixe menu had choices to suit every taste. We went with the butternut squash puree, which was wonderful. For main courses, we went with the papardelle in a light tomato sauce with an abundance of mussels, shrimp, bay scallops and chorizo, perfectly prepared, and the branzino with mushrooms and kale, outstanding! And then the desserts! Panna cotta and creme brulee. Sounds ordinary? Not here! Two dishes, beautifully prepared and presented. Throughout, the service was welcoming and professional. Even though it's a bit of a hike, La Plage is definitely worth the trip! Looking forward to my next visit!!

Our reservation got us an uncovered patio table in the blazing sun in 90+ degree heat. They couldn't seat us indoors, so decided to leave. The manager saw us exiting and demanded to know why. When we told him, he said, "The sun moves every three minutes, ladies. We can't get a cabana boy to move you every time the sun moves." Long story, but we ended up staying. The food was unremarkable. Never again!

Had to order over phone since restaurant was closed due to Covid-19. Picked up food which was waiting and brought it back to our daughter's house. Appetizers and entree were exceptional and made our day really special. Had a restaurant meal in the backkyard with food that was delicious and kept the spirit of Mother's Day memorable. Thank you Wayne and your staff!

This is an excellent, seaside restaurant, all by itself between a nature bog and the waterfront. Amazing menu, lovely servers and staff with both indoor and outdoor seating. We did both! Visited 2 nights in a row because it was so good the first night there was no reason to go anywhere else. If you can, plan a walk on the beach to build up your appetite, or walk off dessert and catch the sunset. Might be my new favorite place anywhere! Great day would be to go to the beach and stay for lunch or dinner. What a great find....

So good! As a “local” I can’t believe I have never been here before!! Everything was delicious. I was not disappointed. Usually when something is rated well, I’m disappointed. But it was great!!! And then the sunset!
