This restaurant has the typical Japanese cuisine menu, with great service and superior taste. The price for the meal is a bit higher than going to one of the all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurants, but if you do not want to gorge down on a lot of food and eat in a nice atmosphere, then you should try this place.

Te sushi is excellent and the staff is very helpful, the owner appears cranky at most times. The pricing is high but the sushi again is very good, fresh and cut exceedingly well.

Went for dinner with my wife and we enjoyed the food and drinks. There are specialty and regular sushi items, teryaki, etc. All seemed very fresh and tasty, great booths for having some time with your significant other, and the drinks were on par. Would definitely go back again. The prices were fair.

In area, stopped for dinner. Some had suishi, some had teriyacki chicken . Miso soup and Hibachi rice was also ordered. Both soup and rice not very good. Suishi and chicken was okay but not worth another visit.

We have been dining here since it opened (under different ownership).
It has only improved over the years!
Their sushi is fresh and well-prepared, artistically, I might add.
The bento boxes are filling and mouth-watering.
The décor (recently updated) is pleasing and the booths offer some privacy.
There is free parking behind the restaurant (enter from Rockaway Ave.) and they do have a rear entrance, although it isn't handicapped accessible.
The prices are reasonable and their are coupons available via local papers, etc.
They have a sushi bar, where you can watch the chefs prepare the rolls and they also have a liquor license. The plum wine is tasty!

I absolutely love this place. They use really fine quality ingredients and everything I have ever tried has been fantastic. I've tried many of their regular rolls, specialty rolls, miso soup, salad and salmon teriyaki bento box. No complaints. Fast service and friendly staff.

If you look closely at the rear entrance, there is a sign "COCKTAILS HALF PRICE ALL DAY LONG". What a wonderful way to start dinner enjoying a Lychee Martini for only $5.Our Sauteed Squid was so delicious we had to ask for rice to soak up every bit of the grilled onions, peppers, zucchini and succulent sauce. The Spicy Tuna and Fried Oyster Roll melted in my mouth along with a bowl of Spicy Tuna. Hubby enjoyed his Sashimi Platter which we finished the next day at home. Our charming waiter Simon made us feel so welcome that we look forward to returning not only for the food but to see him.

We were returning from visiting family in Brooklyn. Wife and kids were hungry, wife was craving sushi. We happen to drive by this place and decided to stop. We weren't expecting much, but was blown away by the food. The fish was super fresh, and the flavors of the special rolls were spot on. My wife ordered an assortment of sushi and sashimi and commented that it was very good and very fresh tasting. I order the million dollar roll, the black widow, and the crazy angel to share with the boys. (My boys and I don't really like the raw stuff). I was real impressed with the freshness and depth of flavors in the special rolls. We've been a lot of nice Japanese restaurants in manhattan and westchester. The food here was undoubted noteworthy. Glad we stopped in. Will look for it again the next time we are visit family in these parts.

My wife and I have been going to Kaiseki for many years now. We have visited other sushi restaurants around NY, out of state and even outside of the US and Kaiseki has been on the top of our list when it comes to Japanese food. The staff is very friendly, the platters well arranged, reasonably priced and consistently solid. I would highly encourage a visit and don't forget the lunch specials (sushi and sashimi).
