From childhood to adulthood this bakery’s bread has been a staple at my family’s table. From the double cooked pointed loaf to the sandwich rolls that never made home on the ride from school.

We stopped by last week and got calzones for lunch. They were the perfect size for lunch and were delicious. The bread smelled heavenly but we resisted the temptation. The prices were very fair, and the prompt service was great. I will definitely be going back for more calzones and pick up some bread for the family.

I grew up on their round rolls. Every time I come back to the area, this is a must stop. I've dragged bags of these things back home on the plane. I love these soft, chewy rolls with the golden tender crust. I dream of these things. There is another, more popular bakery in the area that makes bread...but not like this place. If you think you've had Italian bread, you haven't until you've come to Di Lauro's. The bread is amazing. But the round rolls, and especially the round rolls brushed with butter, are a bread lover's paradise. Worth the trip in the snow, barefoot, uphill both ways. Thank you for years of amazing bread.

GREAT Italian bread done right for over 100 years. Small storefront and old-school ambiance - and stelar bread and calzones. If you don't like this place you are off your rocker, big daddy! They know what is up when it comes to bread and calzones. Sesame bread loaf is killer - my wife is a sesame bread SNOB and she LOVED it - I humped that bad boy all the way back to Dallas and we ate it for Thanksgiving - well, that and some bird and pig. YUM YUM!

While driving through on our way to NYC, we decided to pull off the highway and grab a bite to eat. Despite having punched in something else on our GPS (think fast food), we decided to check out Di Lauro's Bakery. From the outside, it doesn't look like much but the food more than makes up for the look. We picked up a slice of spinach pizza, a sausage and a pepperone DiLunas (think mini calzone). We were impressed. The pizza wasn't soggy nor were the dilunas. In fact, they were the perfect size as calzones are usually much bigger. We've made a note that on our drive home, we will stop in again.

Dilauro's is a Syracuse,NY staple. Other people say visit Columbus bakery but I say for a wide variety of rolls, breads, pizza shells, pizza, and calzones, I just assume go here. The bread at Columbus is not superior enough to stand in line and only have 2 choices of bakery goods when you FINALLY get served. The sheet pizza at Dilauro's is the best I have ever had. I challenge any bakery or pizza joint to try and top this place with their pizzas and lunas and calzones. Not gonna beat that fresh tasty crust that Dilauro's has. Even their pizza sauce is good. All this from a 100 year old small bakery. Don't miss this spot if you are visiting you won't regret. Keep up the delicious work Dilauro's! John-Liverpool,NY

DiLauro's is a take out bakery and pizzeria. It is a tiny little place on the corner that will hold about 4 customers before you start bumping into each other, but don't pass this up. With 3 sensational bakeries in the area, this one is known for crusty breads and rolls with a soft, chewy, interior. More rustic than the traditional Italian breads, but great stuff. I get the long rolls for meatball subs and the round rolls for burgers and sandwiches. I stock up on the pan bread and freeze it. Then the pizza and DiLunas. The DiLunas are like mini-calzones and mini strombolis. All of them are good. My favorite in the place is the breakfast pizza. Bacon, egg, ham, sausage, and cheese on a buttery pizza crust. Great way to start the day. They also have pizza rounds and balls of pizza dough to take home to make your own. Great place.

My wife and I stop here on the way to the Central New York Regional Farmer's Market. It's a nice treat. We usually get a couple DiLunas, which is like a mini calzone. They're pockets of dough stuffed with broccoli or cheese or mushrooms or a combination of all three. They're really good, too. Every once in a while, they might be over or under-cooked, but DiLauro's usually gets it spot on. I've heard their bread and pizza is good, too. Don't expect great service. It's just a counter and a typically surly Italian--male or female--taking and fetching your order. I guess that's part of the charm.
