Long Island has lots of Italian restaurants, but they all have basically the same menu. Testarossa is different, and it's fabulous. The mussels in pesto broth (daily special) were outstanding - and I'm very tough to please on mussels, they need to be super fresh...for me to like them. The almond crusted chicken breast stuffed with artichoke hearts, spinach & asiago cheese served with sweet potato puree in a wild berry brandy seemed like a risk when we ordered it, but it too was fantastic. The rigatoni with veal meat and sausage bolognese was more traditional, but the veal made it extra tasty. The limoncello spritzer was not as sweet as I was expecting.More

We felt well cared for dining at Testarossa. Tables are spaced apart and servers are masked. From the crusty bread to the really hot espresso, our meal was a pleasure. Gnocchi is house made and tastes it. Faro salad was something I'd never had. Very...nicely plated and delicious. Rack of lamb was perfect. Servers were very attentive but we did not feel at all rushed. One of the best restaurants in the area. Generous portions at fair prices.More

meal was excellent. the worry was that the bartender lady was careless in monitoring the bar seating. there were groups of people gathering at bar with no face masks. groups of 4 to 5 gathered together recklessly. no social distancing. was there midweek. made me...nervous. then many of these bar guests walked thru the bar and then restaurant and to the restroom with no masks on. beware!!!.very careless!!!More

We ate here last night for the first time. They did a great job with the social distancing. Our Server Patty was excellent and very professional. She attended to us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great we shared some...appetizers. My son and I shared the Branzino and Lamb Chops both were excellent. All six of us were very happy with food. I highly recommend the establishment.More

Only saw waiter to take our order and bring the check. He never came back to see if we’re enjoying our meal. The restaurant wasn’t busy!

I met a friend at the very busy bar tended by one very busy, overworked lady trying to take care of not only the bar but the restaurant at the same time which she managed but just barely. We ordered dinner while at the bar...and it was brought out within a reasonable time. We ordered a very expensive veal dish which was done perfectly with enough left over to bring home for the next days dinner. Beware however that the bar is on the noisy side . We will return since we had a good time and no real complaints.More

Upon entry you see that the restaurant is very pretty and welcoming. The food was excellent, however I only gave it four stars because the service was a bit spotty. For such a nice restaurant I expect better. A couple were sharing an appetizer and...it took three requests before extra plates arrived at the table. It also took quite awhile to get an alcoholic drink refilled. They have valet parking but it is very easy to miss th3 entrance to their parking lot. This was my first visit and based on the excellent food I would return.More

Haven't been to this restaurant in more than 10 years. Not for any particular reason. Met friends here for dinner. Started with happy hour. $8.00 cocktails and they were great. They have a very nice bar bite menu as well that we didn't have, but...their bread sticks at the bar should not be missed. Dinner was excellent. Halibut special was terrific. Portions were generous. I had an almond crusted chicken dish stuffed with spinach and asiago and it was also great. We will definitely be back...More

I haven’t been a fan of this restaurant but agreed to go with friends who love the place. The food is adequate but certainly not “gourmet.” Their coveted veal chop ($48) was ordered medium rare but came medium-well - and with a slab of butter....I have no idea why chefs think that butter adds to the flavor of grilled meat. I think well prepared chips have enough natural flavor that is best left alone. At the least, the menu should show “with butter” so a patron will know to ask to leave it off. The worst part, however, was the “efficiency”’of the waiter. I had eaten 3/4 of the chop and was engaged in conversation with my friend only to realize that the waiter thought I was finished and without even asking took away the balance of my meal. His manager later retrieved it from the trash to show that I had “eaten most of it” but never offered to replace it. (At first I thought they were trying to give it back to me from the trash). When I suggested they replace it they did not even respond. Instead they offered to comp dessert. Wait staff need to ask before removing plates - especially if anything remains on the plate. They think they are being efficient but instead end up rushing the other diners through the rest of their meals and highlighting the “faster eater.” Thumbs down on Cafe Testarossa.More

Although the food and service were OK, what prompts me to write this review is the way my group of 4 experienced restaurant-goers were treated by the hostess/manager. When there was a dispute over the price of the wine we ordered, she treated us like...criminals and offered no resolution. I have never been spoken to by an employee of a restaurant like that where we just dropped over $200! When we were leaving and I informed her that we would not return, she shrugged her shoulders and wished me a sarcastic Merry Christmas! It was like having a fight in Middle School. I told her I would be writing reviews, she said she did not care. So here goes.... There are far too many good, inviting restaurants on LI where I can spend my money and feel like a welcome guest. Most definitely to be avoided!!!!!More

I just returned to Cafe Testarossa with a group of 6, this restaurant is solid and never disappoints. I personally have had the veal chop special the last 5 times I have been there and it is spectacular. The rest of my group also thoroughly...enjoyed their mealsMore

After the great Trip Advisor rating, I was so looking forward to dining here, but was sorely disappointed. The decor is lovely and promised great things that the service and food did not live up to. We were three couples during Restaurant Week. As for...service, our waiter seemed unfamiliar with the menu, because when one of us ordered the baked clams appetizer, the waiter mentioned linguine, which was a different appetizer. Another of us in fact ordered the black ink linguine with shrimp, but when the appetizers were served, he was served baked clams! When the entrées were served, five of the six entrées arrived. The waiter blamed the kitchen on the delay of the last entrée which struck me as unseemly. The hostess offered a complimentary drink to make up for the delay, but the waiter then made sure to whisper to one of us that he had brought the issue to the hostess’s attention. Why state the obvious? One of the dessert choices was cheesecake. We asked the waiter whether it was Italian cheesecake or “New York style” cheesecake. He did not know, but said he would ask. When he assured us it was New York style cheesecake, three of us ordered it. When it arrived, it was not New York style cheesecake, although tasty enough. Most of the group was pleased with their food. I ordered chicken Valdostino and the kitchen accommodated me by making it without prosciutto. However, the chicken cutlet was dry and clearly over-cooked at one end (just by looking at it; it never should have been served). The amounts of mozzarella and mushroom wine sauce were negligible. This experience certainly did not live up to the rating (or the regular restaurant menu prices) of this establishment.More

Went with friends and their family. Easy parking. Easy to find. Big restaurant. Good menu with good specials. They have a early bird dinner. Staff very good. Fresh bread and water on table within 5 minutes of sitting down. Bar order taken st that time....Had baked clams as appetizer. Was really good and tasty. Had pasta with shrimp as main course. There were 7 of us and each order a different main cours. All were good. They have great desserts. Recommend Cheese cake which was creamy and very tasty. Waiters kept checking on us and refilling water glasses. Prices are ok.More
