Exciting Mexican food in Sunnyside. Extensive menu with all your favourite dishes and some rather special chefs favourites- his shrimp al ajillo was wonderful- sauteed jumbo shrimp with a garlic and white wine sauce with salad, rice and beans. The guacamole starter with nachos was...the best guacamole I have tasted- choice of mild , medium or spicy- i went for the spicy. Efficient and friendly service. Reasonably priced at $40 including a few beers.More

Hubby and I decided to come here for dinner one night. We've been here before but just wanted to try again. What a coincidence that they played my favorite song "unforgettable" when I walked in. I believe they serve happy hour till 10. Wow! Bottoms...up people! Our waiter, Mario, mentioned about the restaurant week. So, I decided to try it. Hubby ordered from a regular menu. We ordered some calamari appetizer, seafood enchiladas, and chicken fajitas. Calamari was average. My seafood enchiladas was pretty good. The rice and beans served with enchiladas were good too but I couldn't finish them all so I took half home. I tried Hubby's chicken fajitas. I thought it was average. I prefer the sizzling to be cooked a little longer, so that the onions and green peppers come out overly sautéed. I always think the taste of the extra sautéed onions and peppers on a sizzling pan is somewhat magnificent (just my opinion). At the end I got churros and vanilla ice cream. Yay! The drink and service were good. Mario was a good waiter. Good service! Thanks!More

If you are in Sunnyside, stop by Arriba-Arriba! The food is flavorful, filling, fresh! Was pondering what to have for dinner, pulled out my menus , opted for AA. Ordered the Taco Salad,(rice-beans-lettuce-tomato-sour cream- cheese-guace) added steak, and a elote (mexican corn on the cob)....I take the corn and shred the kernels off , then place them on top of the salad. This salad is delish! Highly recommended.More

Recommended by our hotel staff as being good quality and value for money and we wholeheartedly agree. Service is excellent, respectful and prompt with good explanation of the respective dishes. The enchilada dishes were superb and presentation was appealing. Would recommend anytime.

The decor is so fun! Bright, playful, energetic and fun. The staff was immediately attendant to seating us (though really busy) and offering drinks (momma or papa margs) that I thought it was going to be GREAT! Ordered two mommas, based solely on her recommendation...that they were bigger than the poppas. Asked for chips and salsa. The margs were good, not great. Chips were served cold, straight out of the bag and plopped in a paper lined dollar store basket, salsa had to be either out of a jar (Pace??) or made by someone with no taste buds. There was NO flavor at all. I asked for some hot sauce to spice it up. Then it was just weak. Husband ordered a seafood enchilada which came beautifully plated-- to which he promptly covered it in sauce to add flavor. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup (usually called Sopa Azteca) this was basically chicken soup with cold avocado chunks... no flavor. I asked for a ramekin of pico de gallo to help it get it's mexi on. Two ramies, zero. Added a good tablespoon of tapatio style sauce... barely passable. Didn't know i would be preparing my own meal at the table!! Then, the bill!!! OMG, those margs? $19 per. No way. It wasn't that big, it wasn't top shelf alcohol, or even fresh lime and triple sec. I was shocked, then I was annoyed, and I left feeling ripped off. The MOST expensive meal I had in a week of dining in Queens, and by far the worst. The real misery was the morning after, you know the cheap tequila hangover? Yeah, two margs (which was probably more like 4) but the low end well tequila hurts.More

My fave Mexican on Queens Boulevard went the unfortunate way of other post-depression struggling restaurants beholden to the greediest landlords in the country, so I tried pricey Arriba Arriba as a substitute. The atmosphere is really for "loud mood dining" -- low lights and booming...music. I ordered to go out. The first time, the guacamole ($10 for 8 oz.) was absolutely delicious, with just the right amount of cilantro (every 4-5 bites or so) to make it pretty outstanding. The second time, there was not a speck of cilantro, fewer onions, it wasn't cold... left me wondering what had happened. The chips are plain, but homemade -- and their plainness brings out the yummy taste in the guac -- if you get the right chef. The first time, my chicken burrito with grilled chicken was fresh and hot and good. Overpriced at $15, yes, but good. For a dollar, I got two ounces of mole sauce on the side, and it was really good. Chocolatey and had cinnamon in it. Interesting! The second time, the chicken, which I had asked for grilled, was cubed, mixed in a soupy concoction that left it dripping on the plate, and was lukewarm. Yes, soupy and I'll warrant, a bit old. Eminently forgettable and even less forgiveable with all that drippy stuff. On both occasions, the burrito was supersized -- two people of 140 lbs. and under could definitely have had a meal from it. I guess football players and the like are the target customers. A lot for your money, true. However, especially because of the high prices, more attention to detail is warranted. I really miss that good guac. It was delish. But now I'm afraid to order it again.More
