Dinner With My Son

My son frequents this establishment and suggested we have dinner there together. Since he knew the menu I gave him control over ordering. While enjoying cocktails we had some sushi rolls which were all very enjoyable. Then for dinner he ordered some Chinese Entrees and Fried Rice. A comfortable atmosphere and all of their patrons appeared to be enjoying themselves immensely since indoor dining was allowed again. A very enjoyable experience and we are certain to be back.

Lost, but now found!

I used to go to this place at it's former location by the SI Mall all the time with friends. I did not realize it moved further down Richmond Ave. Anyways ordered takeout and found out it was the same place, so excited. This place is too far for me, but when I am in the area would gladly visit. I highly recommend the sauteed (breaded) sea bass fillet in the ginger and scallion sauce. The only time I had anything similar to this was in Chinatown in NYC. The other dishes I had were comparable to others, but the sea bass is only found here.

Great Food, Great Staff, Excellent Experience

I had never been to this establishment, but it was suggested by my son who frequents it with his friends. My niece as in town so it was a group of four. We were seated promptly, brought waters, menus and offered to place cocktail orders. Since most of us hadn't been here we took a little longer with the menu, but the staff was cordial and patient. Our appetizers and entrees were all very good. No complaints from anyone in attendance. We shared some ice cream for dessert. The owner is very cordial and takes time to visit and speak with most of his patrons. A very nice man. Great experience for our first visit and we will surely be back.

We had an assortment of delicious entrees- only complaint would be the hot and sour soup could have been spicier. Our server Raymond was TOO much fun and wonderful as was the sassy female coworker at the front dest taking deliveries and take outs. I felt like I had known them forever! I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Tasty NY Chinese food

Ordered takeout to our hotel room. Food arrived in 1/2 hour on a Friday night. We had a yearning for the typical NYC Cantonese Chinese food we ate while growing up, the food that foodies frown on. We were not disappointed. Nice sized eggrolls on the large side...very tasty. Good spareibs. Delicious fried rice. Very good wonton soup that came with crispy noodles!. Shrimp in lobster sauce and Chicken with cashew nuts were delicious. Again, not the gourmet Chinese for the food patrician, but for the plebian masses this was typical American Cantones Chinese food done well. Satisfied our craving nicely.

Not worth the visit

I was in the mood for Chinese spare ribs so I drove across town to give Oriental Plaza a chance. Definitely NOT Worth it. Ordered the lunch special. Plenty of Meat on the ribs however no taste at all. Also, I tasted butter. What the heck is up with that? Pork fried rice was bland as anything. Minuscule pieces of pork. On a positive side the hot and sour soup was tasty but too small a portion. For me, this place is One and done.

Cutting corners and taste

I brought my daughter here for lunch a couple of times. I always seem to leave unhappy and her not so much. Today we realized why. I order a lunch special with pork fried rice, she only orders chicken fried rice. Mine rice comes out with no onions, eggs, little veggies just tiny pieces of pork that can barely be seen. I taste mine...bland as anything. So I add soy sauce. She says try mine. Much better. Lunch bill for two came to over $30 with her sushi. We still didn't rate being given pineapple for dessert as others tables did. I guess if you cut corners you loose customers.

Impromptu party Success!

We had plans at a baseball field for our college baseball reunion. However, as we were arriving, the game was cancelled along with our suite. Calls were made to various places for 30 people. We called Oriental Plaza and within the hour, they accommodated our party. Drinks and family style platters of foods galore! Food was fresh and delicious! Staff did a great with the impromptu party. Good pricing!

Great Chinese Food

Large portions, pretty cheap. The family will usually have the pu pu platter, lo mein, chow fun, boneless ribs and some other basics. The wait staff is very attentive. We went there for Mother’s Day last year.

OP Always A Place To Visit Dont Forget to See Johnnie

As Always OP food was great! The Staff was friendly and Service was speedy. We had a couple of drinks at the bar and she was great mixing drinks. Johnnie Please Don’t ever stop being you!! You have hit a homerun with your place. Will be back for sure and tell all my friends and family that OP is a must stop location when in NYC.
