Near the St. George Ferry Terminal in Tompkinsville is USA's largest Sri Lankan community. So it is only appropriate that it has New Asha, the Sri Lankan restaurant that serves many delicacies. The blistered rotis, mutton curry, coconut broth soups are pretty delicious.

In continuation of our food vacation to the 5 buroughs, we headed to Staten Island for some Sri Lankan food for dinner. It was around a 25 minute walk uphill, from the ferry terminal and when we arrived, we were the only ones there. After speaking w/ the owner and not knowing what to order other than asking for meat... More

We took the ferry to Staten Island and just decided to have lunch there. The walk was worth it !!! We decided to share several plates and all of them were just delicious. The chef is very nice. Definitely one of the best Sri Lankan food I ever had.

We happend to be in Staten Island, NYK on a long weekend, where my cousin from Sri Lanka took us to this place. After spending about 1.5 months away from SL, we were craving for our usual tastes. The restaurant excellently exceeded our expectations. They had rice and curry with spicy chicken and fish curries, short eats (cutlets, fish rotty,... More

We took the ferry over to states island and decided to have lunch. We found this place via the rough guide and we're glad we took the 20-25 min walk to find this place. We hadn't had Sri Lankan food before so asked what was recommended. Great starters and a curry sampler (little bit of everything) with roti and goat... More

Sought this place out during some recent travels to NY this Summer. Very unassuming--actually, very typical of a traditional cafe in Sri Lanka. I had Chicken Kothu and my wife and daughter had chicken and mutton curry with rice. All I can say is it tasted not different that what you'd have in Sri Lanka. The place has a steady... More

I decided to skip the bus and walk down to the ferry, and I happned to pass this place. It's a bright, clean hole-in-the-wall with great food, lovingly prepared and friendly served. I had never had Sri Lankan before, and I'm hooked. It's a new kind of spicy home cooking.

Just happened to be passing by while staying locally. We went for the chicken buryani and the chicken curry. The level of spice we required was established beforehand which was good. The meals were tasty and full of flavour. Nice authentic taste of Sri Lanka. Recommend you try if you are in the area.

First time eating Sri Lankan food It reminds me of Jamaican.....curried goat was great. Vety casual and tiny with paper plates but worth a try if you like spicy ethnic foods. Its s little like Indian food but more hot pepper
