Daughter wanted to eat here for her birthday. Enjoyed her drink, as well as her blackened chicken quesadilla. Have to admit didn't love everything we had, but the queso fundido and the duck mole tacos were outstanding. Service was good. The restaurant has a fun...vibe. This time we enjoyed sitting in the covered outdoor space which put us more at ease since we had small children with us. Would recommend you try them.More

All depends on what you order, it's either great or Ugh!, but that is not my beef tonight. BE AWARE & CHECK YOUR BILL. When using a credit card you will be charged a "Non-cash or Service fee" at check out for Non-cash paying customers........GUESS...WHAT, we were paying cash but the fee was already on the bill assuming we were paying by credit card!!!!!!. ooops their mistake.....I don't think so. Never going back to a place that charges a fee for using a credit cardMore

I received a gift card for Sofia's from my family for my birthday. They had been there several times and each time they raved about the food. I ordered food from there on two different occasions and both times the food was excellent. I went...to pick it up and it was ready as expected. It was well packaged which is very important when you order a number of dishes. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Since I am a vegetarian, I always have a number of questions regarding ingredients. They patiently answered all of my questions. When it was time to pay there was some discrepancy about the payment but they were very agreeable and patient in resolving the issue. I have not eaten in the restaurant yet but when I went to pick up the food I was quite impressed by the ambiance and decor. I am anxious to eat inside in the near future.More

Tried to order a nice meal for my family for Cinco de Mayo but it was a complete failure. Placed my order for pick up at 4:30 on April 30. On 5/5 went there and waited outside with another 25 people which quickly grew to...more. There was no organization outside. No social distancing. No staff or management coming out to tell us they were running behind schedule. I waited to 6:00pm and when I went inside to ask how much longer they refused to answer me because they didn’t even know how long it would be. Finally someone came to speak with me at 6:30 and said that it was going to be another 30 minutes. That meant they were 2 and 1/2 hours behind schedule. There were countless people canceling their orders. I asked if they were going to somehow compensate us for waiting and they said they were giving us extra cake. Cake? I canceled my order and walked out. They should be ashamed of themselves. They took advantage and became greedy. They took too many orders for pick up and delivery than they could handle, given the situation of Covid19 and didn’t care. The cannot have the normal amount of cooks in the kitchen due to the social distancing but the never took that into consideration. They had a bunch of young kids working there and only 1 adult that I saw. The phone was ringing off the hook and no one was picking up. They expected that people would wait and be forgiving. And then they had the nerve to charge my credit card. I will NEVER go back to them. There was no customer service and Chef Botros should be ashamed of himself!! All the awards and accolades mean nothing when you can’t run a business the right way and keep your customers happy.More

Really the food is quite good and the restaurant is very quaint. The music was a bit overwhelming for my hearing aids but the music was turned off when our host mentioned it to the waitstaff. Great guacamole and salsa. My Carnita Tacos were full...of delicious meat enjoyed by our grandson AND me.More

Excellent food and atmosphere. Great drinks too. We enjoyed so many things off the menu. The dishes are not your typical Mexican fare. They are gourmet style dishes that my friends and I shared. Been here several times and I’m going back for more. Yummmmmmm

Nachos were crisp and salted nicely, but the salsa for the chips was outstanding. Carne asada ,steak / fish tacos were all excellent. Fried calamari was a little overcooked. Drinks were a good pour but a bit pricey even for top shelf brands. The desserts really...finished off the meal on a high note. The Horchata flan was the best thing I've had in a long time.Warm churros were served with chocolate sauce but the caramel sauce my wife requested took it to another level. I was a little disappointed they didn't have chiles rellenos but I will go back again.More

we decided to try Sofia's on a Monday night and the place was packed. Our server was a bit overwhelmed , but we had a great meal. The fresh guacamole was delicious as was all our entrees. The place is pricey but worth it.

Nice venue. great decor. I felt like I was in Mexico. Service was good. To be fair, I wasn't that impressed with the food but I had ordered a burrito. I thought there was barely any chicken in it. My husband had a chicken dish...which he thought was okay but not that impressed either.More

Hosted my birthday dinner of about 20 people last night at Sofia's and everyone left very happy with the service and the food. Because of the amount of people I had we were given a pre-fix family style menu which was honestly so worth it....It was $37 dollars a person that gave you about 4 appetizers, about 5 entrees and 3 types of dessert all served family style. The Corn and the Carne Asada Tacoswas my favorite! The food had so much flavor. I also had the Guava Margarita which is a must have. I do recommend the Sofias Secret Guacamole. The waiter was amazing. He was super friendly and handled the size of my party really well.More

This is the 3rd restaurant at this location. Updated interior to match the current cuisine. Made a reservation through open table. Every seat was filled on a Wednesday night. Parking could be a little problematic, but most restaurants on Bay Street have the same issue....The hostess was the nicest and friendliest one I have ever encountered. I have been following the opening of this restaurant and was looking forward to their bay street corn. Loved the flavors and enjoyed, just slightly disappointed that the corn was a bit water logged. Loved the chicken tortilla soup, chicken fajitas and the Pescado Yucatan with their accompanying sides. Peter one of the owners is very visible at this and his other restaurants. He's a local Staten Islander who supports his community and cares about what his customers have to say. Would definitely recommend your visiting this, or any of his other establishments.More

We were really looking forward to trying this place out, the hype was loud. What a disappointment. I ordered the 5 alarm guacamole...they must have made a mistake on the order....not a dash of heat. Carnitas tacos are my go to,3 of us ordered the...carnitas. The pork had a funny taste and did not settle well through the night. My son order a burrito, the flour tortilla was rubbery and tasteless.. The drinks were tasty but lacked alcohol...we ordered shots on the side... Service was good and the corn tortillas were very good...but that's about it... With all the Mexican restaurant choices on Staten Island go eat tacos at a mom and pop place. There's plenty to choose from that offer great food and drinks at a much better price.More

Awesome restaurant! Definitely going back! Menu is somewhat small but lots of variety. Fresh guacamole bar is amazing! HUGE selection of tequilas and hot sauces are available!! Some hot sauces are free and some have an additional charge. Large drink selection. Decor is beautiful and...very detailed. Looking forward to the summer time where there’s outside seating. Went on a Tuesday where there was no wait to be seated but definitely would look into making reservation if you plan on going on the weekend. Price range is average in comparison to most other places. Service is exceptional and attentive(refilled drinks from our pitcher whenever we were running low, folded napkin, cleared dirty please promptly, checked in often) I can only write about the things we had from the menu. Here’s what we had- Started with a big pitcher of raspberry mango frozen margaritas. YUMMY! Definitely worth getting the pitcher(price wise) if you’re going to have 2 or more drinks! Had the Pineapple Guacamole which was DELICIOUS! We ate the whole thing! For entrees we had the Carnitas tacos and the Carne Asada tacos. 3 nice sized tacos. Meat was tasty. Tortillas were perfect. Between the guacamole and chips and the tacos I was stuffed but, who can pass up on dessert?? We had the strawberry and Nutella empanadas and shared an espresso martini. A delicious way to end dinner! Definitely recommend eating here.More
