Ask me 2 years ago, and I would have said I loved the place. Went with a friend the another night as they offered a restaurant.com certificate. My first experience was wow. Now it's "the same old thing". I have never seen a change in menu or any specials. Diner's constantly move around the room, as do their children. One... More

We decided to try a new (to us) restaurant & chose Chinar on the Island, as the Yelp & Trip Adviser reviews were positive. This is an absolutely beautiful venue. The middle court-yard area (with tables) is lovely, with “Chinar” trees in the center, underneath a mural on the ceiling of a picturesque blue sky. The surrounding area has private... More

We were recently there for a big birthday party which was set up in their banquet room and we really enjoyed it! The food was good, although at times a bit inconsistent, some dishes were great and some were so-so. The music was OK, a bit all over the place with styles, genres...but overall it was a fun evening!

This was the second visit for me to Chinar. The service is still attentive and the food top notch. It was sat night and there was an excellent saxophonist. We started with fried calamari which was tender and well seasoned. The main I had was shrimp and pasta in pesto sauce it was Al dente and delicous. Hinda had the... More

This is one of the best restaurants on the Island. Friendly staff, fresh food , salads made for your order ( not 5 days in advance ) , middle eastern and russian flavors . We have dinner there at least once a week. Love it !

Chinar on the Island never disappoints. I have been there numerous times and it's always amazing👌;especially the potatoes and mushroom and mixed meat platter. I celebrated my birthday there in January with about 20 guest and all my guest were very impressed with their service and food!! This is for sure my go to spot in Staten Island!

We looked at a menu before deciding to sit down. It looked good so we decide to stay. The bartender came over and greeted us and took our drink order then disappeared for 15 minutes. When she returned she made our drinks and brought them over. We ordered two entrees and waited, and waited and waited. When the food came... More

Good ambiance, nice dining room. The tables are not pushed together but in a comfortable pattern. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. Weekends there's live music. We were a party of 8 and started with lots of appetizers. They were fresh and delicious also the bread was the same. Octopus salad was tasty and tender the salmon &tuna exquisite.... More

Chinar on the island is a perfect place for any kind of celebration. The place beautifully redone after hurricane Sandy about a year ago has a certain charm and comfort ,excellent service , the food great as always! It continues to be one of our favorite restaurants were we keep coming back with friends and family.. Highly recommend it!
