This small restaurant very conveniently located near the Staten Island ferry is a fun adventure. They invite a rotating set of Nonnas (grandmothers) to cook on a daily basis. Although the restaurant is basically Italian, the Nonnas are from all over, thanks to the diversity in the neighborhood. The night we went, there was an Italian and a Peruvian Nonna... More

Best meal I had on Staten Island in a long time. Everything was great from the friendly service, to the delicious desert! I never ever order chicken but took a chance and it was great! The cold fish salad appetizer was tender with just the right amount of seasoning. Don't pass this place up its great!

The place is great if you stick to the Italian food selections that are available daily on the menu. They have other chefs as its the theme but when its not Italian food it can be hit or miss. The fresh pasta is the best I've ever had. A warning- They seem to substitute packaged pasta when they run out... More

We deliberately savored the train and ferry travel to this spectacular spot an easy walk from the terminal, on Staten Island. The Nona of our day was from Napoli and she fed us royally with new flavors and beautiful, abundant antipasti, pasta, rabbit and more. The wine list was distinctively chosen and we got really knowledgeable advice. We're going back!... More

I was excited to try Enoteca Maria's as I love the idea of traditional home cooking and used the weekend to head out to Staten Island to give it a whirl. It's a fairly compact restaurant with a menu that changes daily dependent on the nonna that's cooking. There's a decent sized wine list, but the prices are pretty steep... More

We expected it to be noisy, crowded and confining; which it was. We also expected the food to more than make up for those issues; it did not. Things started off great with delicious focaccia accompanied by pickled carrots, sautéed zucchini and a potato/tuna mixture. After that almost everything was disappointing. My torta rustica was almost all bread with only... More

Seating was tight, but our server was excellent. She recommended a very good wine and tasty dishes. The appetizers were very good - I had a salad with pear/goat cheese that was very good. The bass dish was very tasty but not filling. The dessert nutella gelato was excellent. Cash only was inconvenient.

If this is Italian Home Cooking, you've never experienced it before. We had not but will again. Thank you, Nona!

The concept was great. The food is cooked by grandma. from italy / france. Food was good. Service was great. It does come with high price but I think it does worth the money. The grandma told me the sauce she cooked took her 3 hours slow cooking. OMG. I highly recommend this

This is a tiny little spot in an odd location not far from the ferry port in Staten Island. The menu is created by and cooked by a group of Grandmas (Nonnas). The menu is constantly changing because the Nonnas rotate the duties, and they have varying cooking backgrounds from far reaching areas throughout Europe and south America. You need... More
