You can't beat this place. Huge selection Menu! Great draft beer! Atmosphere ...one of a kind. My favorite restaurant in Southampton.

Service was hurried and snarky with less than 50% full. Sirloin stake was tough. Wiener schnitzel, salty. Baked potato cold... Need I go on??? 😫😝Also with Covid-19😷 they gave a universal bag of crayons and a coloring book to my Grandchild👩 not a individual small...box of crayons or a coloring place mat! Brilliant move this day and age but absolutely chintzy. 👎More

They have lots of nice choices on the menu, They have dinners that come with salad, main course and dessert, They are reseanably priced which is a nice thing. Its a little dark inside there.

As visitors from Ireland we were treating our elderly relatives who suggested Shippy’s . I most definitely would not recommend it having had a dreadful experience last evening. Our waitress was rude from the outset. When we were about to order pre-dinner drinks she sprang...away without an apology. When she eventually returned I asked for a cocktail and she said they didn’t do it, despite my seeing a cocktail at another table later. We were left waiting for a considerable time before she took our meal order. When I commented about the delay she did not apologize merely replied with ‘it’s very busy’ . Not a pleasant experience especially on our last evening staying in the area with relatives.More

The place to go for pure local dining with the best filet served in a sizzling skillet. Duck and veal & chicken schnitzel are also good choices. Reasonably priced drinks to boot and you will come back often.

What a quaint little spot! I’m German, so thought I would give this little gem a try. Inside of the space is exactly as I expected, it’s dated but the German charm abounds. I had the chicken salad platter and it was excellent. All the...good stuff I would expect: homemade chicken salad, beets, hardboiled eggs, potato salad, pickled beans, all on top of some fresh greens. Service was excellent! I heard the bartender serves up a stiff drink!More

I loved it! I love German food and this place did not disappoint! The food was great, service was excellent. I had the baked claims and they were fantastic! I also had weisswurst (it's similar to bratwurst but a milder flavor for anyone how's never...had it. That was amazing weisswurst. I loved the sauerkraut it was not to bitter. My mom had the sauerbraten and really loved it. My dad had veal it was the best he had in a long time. Creamed spinach was really good as well. The place looks outdated but I feel it gives it charm. It definitely doesn't stop this place from giving great food! Only disappointment was paying per drink. Other than that I can not wait to go back!More

I never write reviews but felt compelled to do do. We had a horrible experience there after 20 years patronizing. We were a party of 13 and gave them over a weeks notice. We didn't have a server. When one finally came along, she only...took drink orders for half the table. We were then ignored for 20 minutes. It was crazy. When we finally said something, we were yelled at. The waitress said that we barked orders at her and that we have a second waitress and to talk to her. We never knew we had 2nd waitresses. It was such a bad scene. I asked to speak to the manager but nobody came over. I've never experienced anything like this. Though the food is consistent, we will never return which is sad because we had many great dinners there. It was really that bad.More

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Was in the Hamptons for a few days and this was our favorite, much of it was the feel which is not glitzy and the staff seem to all be locals and really nice. I did not have the duck but...have heard great things about it. My daughter really wanted lobster so we pre-ordered those for dinner and they were very good.. I definitely recommend this restaurant, the food is probably only a 4 but the whole environment inclined me to give it a 5 rating.More

Shippy’s has been here for years and the food was always great. Things change. Visited Friday for lunch. Fist clue...no one in the restaurant at noon. Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that was tough as shoeleather. My husband had a hot pastrami that tastes like...grocery store prepackaged and dropped in a fry pan to warm up. Dry and unappetizing. Service was so-so. Take this place off your destinations to dine in Southampton.More

I just love Shippys! It’s a dark, authentic German pub in the middle of Southampton. While summer people flock to the hottest restaurants and overpay for food and get bad service, the locals and people in the know come to Shippys! You can get grilled...steak or lamb chops, prime rib, German specialties or the reason I come, Alaskan king crab!! For 20 years I’ve been coming to Shippys. The crab used to be $29.95!!! It’s now $60 but still totally worth it. You get soup or salad, a choice of potato and a veggie side so it’s a complete meal!! And you can order German beer. Or do what I do and bring your own wine for a 14.99 corkage. The wait staff have been there forever. All professionals who have made this a career and second home. It’s a place to go in the summer or if you make it to the Hamptons in the winter!More

I’m a big fan of Peking Gourmet in Falls Church, VA but Shippy’s has them beat! Crispy and flavorful. Great Cole Slaw, good red cabbage and great home fries. Dee took great care of us! Off the street parking.

Stopped in this Southampton classic, rustic restaurant for lunch. I had delicious clam chowder and the beef rouladen with mashed potatoes and red cabbage; husband had Weiner schnitzel a la Holstein that he said was one of the best he'd ever had. His home fries...were some of the best we've ever had, too. I thought my apple strudel was the winner until I tasted his Bavarian chocolate cream pie. Knowledgeable, friendly waitress made lunch a delight. No wonder it's been here 70 plus years!More
