The Islander serves breakfast all day - that is a good thing. The prices were reasonable. The food was decent. The service was punctual and friendly.

Eggs, English muffins, regular muffins, lots of pancakes & waffle offerings. Had the special pork quesadilla - it was different but good - a bit sweet. seemed like it might have been done in a food processor. ....enjoyed. Will return - they are open every day of the week either until 3PM or 9PM many days. Love the booths....good prices... low... More

We love The Islander. Not only does it stay open all year but it harkens back to the great age of local diner restaurants. Breakfast is fantastic but so are their lunches. Cannot go wrong with the burger plate but I love their BLT as well. Well, actually anything. Big portions. All of SI comes here at some point. Not... More

Most recently there for breakfast with another family. We enjoyed a wide range of items from pancakes to eggs to oatmeal at modest prices. Attractive dinery setting. Largely local crowd. Good at the basics. Not for fine dining.

Few places were open for lunch on a Tuesday at noon in the off season. The place has only that as a redeeming factor. The food is poor (my wife fried Fluke seemed to be from frozen stock, I did not like my RJ sandwich and my stomach hated it that afternoon). The server was alone and stressed out (... More

Eating out on Shelter Island can be expensive but The Islander offers good, fun food for reasonable prices. It's the closest thing to a diner Shelter Island has, although it isn't like a traditional diner you might see in the city. They offer easy, tasty food and its the perfect place to bring kids. We like the brownie sundae, although... More

If you have no food allergies, the breakfasts are indulgent. However, it took foreve to get our food since we had to have some accommodations. It took forever and the food was not great. All the other diners were really enjoying the waffles, French toast etc. So if you are not gluten-free, then go give it a try.

My husband and I went to this place for lunch yesterday. We live close by but this was our 1st time here. We got there around 2:30 and there was a nice size crowd but not packed at all. There was 1 server which was fine for the time of day and the amount of people in there. We sat... More

Great breakfast and I felt like a local. This place was perfect for a nice breakfast or lunch. Made my last meal of my trip a nice way to say goodbye to vacation!
