Great little cafe in Sharonb springs. The sandwiches are large so you might prefer half a sandwich with soup -- a fine lunch.

We stopped for brunch while visiting Cooperstown for the induction ceremonies and would up sleeping in Sharon Springs. The owner was friendly and the young female waitresses quite efficient and competent. The menu was diverse and the food good. We sat by the road under an umbrella on a hot day and the service of refilling the drinks was appreciated.... More

Staffers are a little slack, but the coffee was great. Just don't expect anyone to put themselves out for you. It took quite some time to decipher that the coffee was self-serve.

The Black Cat was recommended by the owners of the B&B I was staying at. While the inside was small and "quaint", in a very old building, I chose to sit outside. The menu includes some unique and interesting items. I chose the Curried Chicken Sandwich and a Chocolate Lava Cookie and lemonade. The sandwich was a delicious mix of... More

We were traveling and looking for a lunch stop. The Black Cat had specials of local grow items. Very well prepared. We enjoy dessert as well. Serve was good.

We lunched there on a sunny Monday and the proprietor, Tony Daou, was nowhere to be seen. Not, perhaps, a good sign. It was noon and the place was empty, except for the occasional local buying a drink to go, so we were well able to study an interior that seemed to be aiming for a shabby chic look -... More

Nothing is better than to be greeted with a big smile and welcome when you enter a cafe. Actually, Tony greeted us on the sidewalk before we entered. What a quaint cafe, very eclectic. The food was wonderful _ tomatoe soup with wild rice and roasted turkey on raisin bread with cranberry and apple. Service was excellent. The cakes looked wonderful... More

Just had lunch here with my daughter for the first time. Great service (owner and server)! Great food! Super desserts and I loved the full coffee/tea bar. How nice to have specialty drinks in such a quaint town. So nice inside as well! All the soups are vegan before adding meat and they have no problem telling you what is... More

We stopped here on the way to Cooperstown. Great lunch menu, cross between a cafe and a bistro. American food. Good service. We let family in the area know to stop here on their trips to Coop too.

The staff is very friendly. Tony the owner came over to chat with us for awhile. The macaroni and goat cheese is one of the best I ever had. We both had the Cassandra sandwich, carved thick turkey, bacon, tomato, on homemade bread toasted. Pricey at $9 and didn't come with any chips or side. The mac 'n cheese was... More

Thank you for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed! A lot of people say that the sandwiches are so big, so we usually don't offer sides at lunch, but do so when we do dinner in the summer -- smaller portions of any sides you like for free ... You are right, we should and will start to offer at lunch... More
