The food and prices are definitely more bistro-like than ale-house, but the food was very good. My sons enjoyed the sausage platter with 3 German and Dutch-style sausages to try. The French Onion soup was very good, and the Winter Salad was healthy and fresh. Good selection of local and craft beers to try as well.

We had a nice dinner here while staying in Woodstock. It’s about a 25 min drive from there. Made a reservation and was seated promptly. For apps we had the wings which were a dry rub so very crispy and an excellent flavor. Burgers were delicious

Thoroughly enjoyed our pit stop in Saugerties on the way home from a recent ski trip. Choose The Dutch for some late lunch and we were not disappointed. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. The food was great. I enjoyed fantastic fish and chips with a light, crispy batter and lovely flaky, white fish. My wife had an excellent chicken Caesar. We both washed then down with local beers from their solid drinks menu. Will definitely go again.

Thank you so much for the lovely review! We're delighted to hear that you had a great time at our pub during your pit stop in Saugerties. We are glad that our local beers and food hit the spot. Looking forward to having you both back again soon! Cheers! 🍻😊

I have been going to the Dutch for over 10 years. We are mug club members. Although we would love to support The New Dutch it is becoming harder and harder with all the changes. What keeps happening to the menu? Changes all the time. Once minute you can get a sandwich and the next week you have to order a meal. Not everyone wants to have a fancy NYC meal nor can they afford it. If you order a meal you can't substitute anything. Someone wanted fries instead of the sweet potatoes. They were told they needed to order fries as a side. REALLY? Back in the day you couldn't find a seat at the bar. Today there is no one there. Why do you need to change something that wasn't broken? I am not saying not to make changes but at least allow those who want a sandwich for dinner to get one. But then again how many people are going to pay $ 17.00 for a reuben when you can get one down the street for $ 12.50. We see mug club members all over Saugerties. Everyone says the same thing. They only want to cater to NYC clients so why go back. Unfortunately I am not sure I will return either. Very unfortunate since we have had some of the best times there. But when a restaurant only focuses on a small niche of customers the writing is on the wall. Maybe the locals are not the people they want as customers. I just wish they could find a happen medium so that all Dutch customers can be happy. I just wish they would

Dined at the Dutch with my family on Friday evening and will never return, it was awful! We started with a few of the appetizers which included the meat and cheese platter, what a joke — there was so little on the platter and the presentation was plain ugly, the wings were not very good and the onion soup was also awful. The main entrees arrived and the burgers were fine but the special stuffed fish was so dry and the baked potato that was served as a side was so cold that the butter would not melt. We got our check, paid our bill and will never ever return.

The Dutch Ale House is a nice restaurant in the center of the village. Both the building and the menu have had upgrades the last few years. We stopped for a mid-day lunch, and ordered the Harvest (turkey dinner) Sandwich and the House made Sausages. The food was very good and the portion sizes were good too. The wine was a little pricey, and the serving size was more of a tasting than a glass. The service was good. There is an extra fee for using credit cards, so cash may save you a couple dollars.

Unfortunately, this review is without having tasted any of their food or beers. We tried a couple of nights to get into the restaurant.... the first night we tried as walk-in but were told that without a reservation they didn't have space for us (even though the bar seating was nearly empty). The 2nd night we made a reservation but when got there they said that we'd have to wait for at least 10 minutes. My husband didn't like the attitude of the hostess and the way she spoke to us, so we decided to just cancel the reservation and go to another restaurant that we had gone a couple of nights before. They need to tell the hostess that they're the first impression of the restaurant.

I walked in at 430 on a Tuesday afternoon. They were busy. I was greeted by the hostess. I told her I just wanted to have a beer and asked if I could grab a seat at the bar. There were at least 5 open stools. She said she had to seat me which she did promptly. I sat directly in front of the barmaid who was making drinks. She greeted me and said, I will be with you shortly. I only wanted a draft. She was making mixed drinks for waitresses. After waiting another ten minutes with no communication from the barmaid, I left. I was attracted to the place because of sign “Dutch Ale House”. Maybe table service is better. I thought if the barmaid had asked what I was having, that she could have pulled a draft in 30 seconds and got back to her work. If she had just said, I have 5 more drinks to make and I will take care of you, I would have stayed. As a former bartender, maybe I judge to harshly.

Delicious and glad to be back for a 2nd visit. Simply a very good dinner, home-cooked in the best way, everything made fresh, hard to choose from a good menu, good drinks too and a nice beer selection. Fun to hang by the bar and chat with locals and make new friends. One of our fave stops in the Catskills.

Dutch was a great place for dinner. Our server, Abbey, was very knowledgeable and provided superb service. We had the pulled pork and the salmon sandwich with red wine. Parking was easy. Heartily recommend.

We ate too fast to take pictures. Their beer selection is well rounded and lets you experience the area in a glass. It’s also not all IPAs! Their pastrami is incredible! Chefs kiss! What a lovely surprise stop through the valley!

We had the best German food I’ve had in a long time — schnitzel, red cabbage, spaetzel. Great fresh fish and chips, too. Beer menu was impressive. Staff was attentive and pleasant. Portions were generous. Fun atmosphere, too.

My partner and I stopped in for lunch while checking out Saugerties. We shared the fish and chips and the chicken sandwich. He liked them both. I thought the fish was dry (I had the tail end of the piece which was the thinner end) but he did not find it dry at all. I thought the chicken sandwich was good but not great. The Wait staff were all friendly and polite. We would go back again.
