This is an old hotel that has all the good and bad which comes with that. Could be a bit better maintained. Plenty of atmosphere! The food is quite good and appropriately priced. Active late-night bar scene, may not be everyone's taste. Overall a good option.

went again and was so disappointed. For us this is an expensive treat. we were all so disappointed with our fish entrees. three of us had the haddock at forty dollars plus a plate. it was so dry and totally disappointing. two others in our group had the flounder almondine. this too was much too dry -- no sauce. We... More

Large menu with traditional American classics. Crowded and small but worth the experience. Some star sighting possible in season and cool locals off season.

Popped-in to The American Hotel for dinner prior to a film in Sag Harbourt. Lovely meal in the bar room. When making reservations it's best to try to narrow your seating preferences - the more formal dining room, the front porch, the bar room, or the front/rear/side rooms. There are also options for smaller or larger tables - all are... More

I'm partial to The American Hotel and my wife and I have been there many times for both lunch and dinner. Our recent visit was for dinner when, without a reservation on a Friday evening we showed up and were accommodated at 7:30. Yes, it was busy, but the staff know how to make things work and we got one... More

Very, very nice! We were walk-ins on a busy night but did not have to wait as we were directed to a great table for our party of five. Baby boomer friendly menus (somewhat akin to an iPad with backlighting), with a selection of fine choices from which to somehow choose from (the hardest part) were presented to us from... More

The best rack of lamb I've ever had. This restaurant is expensive but well worth it. The food was absolutely amazing.

Lunch on the porch on a beautiful summer day watching the constant parade go by is delightful. Food and service are very good. Fresh fish excellently prepared. The menu, however, is limited. Check out the charming interior and well-stocked bar. Historical building from the 1800's.

This was such a delicious experience! My cousins took us there and it was amazing, The people were so congenial and fun. The music was so entertaining, it makes you feel like dancing. We can't wait to go back!

This is my second review, I submitted one last week upon checking today I see that it has not been posted. Our experience was terrible!! Salad with the majority of it being brown, really? 2 day old bread? Rosé wine listed as French, I really believe it came from a box. Upon being seated I thought of leaving, it felt... More
