Lovely early dinner at Maassmann's! I called before we came and the very sweet owner explained that they had a big party so there may be a spot for us but it would be a little louder than usual. Glad we risked it. Wonderful service...and the German specialities we wonderful. Sat at a high top at the bar and enjoyed the whole experience. Going back with my German in-laws. Very nice experience.More

Four of us visited here August 8, 2019. We were staying nearby at another German-themed resort and were exploring another option for dinner after a day of hiking & exploring in the Catskill Mountains. Maassman's Restaurant is located at their Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country...Club. This is a family owned business since 1967. Sons, Ed & Peter run the 18 hole golf course. There are also 22 rooms at the lodge. On to the delicious part of our first visit. We decided to try here because they had Jaegerschnitzel on the menu. Our waitress was Monika. We started w/ a round of drinks and then ordered our meals. The ladies ordered their favorite Rouladen ($22) served w/ spaetzle & red cabbage. The guys ordered the Jaegerschnitzel ($21) also w/ spaetzle & red cabbage. My brother-n-law, the big man, also ordered onion soup au gratin ($5) and a side of potato pancakes ($6). Everything was authentic per my sister-n-law (2nd generation American of German parents). We were in no hurry and the bar & dining room were only partially full. Food came to the table in an appropriate time for the excellent preparation and presentation, also hot and correct. Everyone said their meals were "Wunderbar" and the ladies took home half their entrees, not the case for the guys. Two ordered dessert, one apple strudel a la mode, to our surprise strudel served cold, and Bienenstik - a honey cake. The name literally means bee sting. Again everything is authentic, excellently prepared, and kostlich (delicious). The chef, Evald, also came out and checked on our experience and thanked us for visiting. Dinner for four, four glasses of wine, a martini, two well drinks, and a weiss bier came to $230. w/ tax & tip. On the upper end of our budget but well worth the experience. Open April through October Thursday-Sunday 5-8:30pm. p.s. the golf clubhouse bar is open for lunch 11:00am-3:pm, clubhouse bar 5-8:30pm. We highly recommend Maassmann's if you're the northern Catskill Mountains, affectionately nicknamed the German Alps. Maassmann's is a must-try recommendation from us. Danke to Mr & Mrs M and your staff.More

Delicious breakfast. Order the sausage, they use the German style bratwurst breakfast sausage, delicious! The rye is like the Lithuanian bread we get from our local German specialty store, so good. Breakfast is included in the room rate. We didn't have dinner there but arrived...at the end of dinner service and the place was still packed, must be good.More

Maassmann's is my favorite German restaurant. The food is prepared fresh and is delicious. The atmosphere and décor are quaint. The potato pancakes are excellent. The weiner schnitzel is tasty and the veal is very tender. The staff is friendly and service is good. We...arrived before the restaurant opened for dinner and we were pleasantly greeted and shown to a table.More

Maassman's Restaurant is located at Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club in Round Top, NY. The restaurant is family run and decor is very charming. It is like being in an actual German lodge with many reminders of Europe. The food is excellent. The potato...pancakes are made from a family recipe and they are the best! The homemade salad dressing is very good and the Wiener schnitzel and spaetzle are delicious. This is the best German food I have had outside of Germany and the prices are very good too.More
