This place has some very good food, from Steaks any way you like, Every meal comes with a bowl with pickles, past salad and more. great burgers, and very large salads. Right next to a golf course if you want to play a round. The prices are VERY reasonable. cant go wrong here.

In the area, looking for a good place with American fare. Its been several years since I have been here, and past experiences have been okay, but not excellent. Seemed much better this time.
Service pretty good, menu items varied and good selection, but a little pricey. Not too bad, though. Probably will go here again if in the area...

Been coming here since I was a kid...lived in rocky Point for 25 years....great food...amazing service...unbelievable prices...great bar...just a good homely place ...jr,s used to have a huge steak where if you finished it it was free and they put your picture on the wall..I was up There ...sadly i live in south carolina now..I miss jr,s there food is fantastic..steak and lobster with coconut shrimp is the best ..so glad this place came back

Special mother's day menu. They were out of half of the menu that they offered! They were out of multiple items from each course. Service was so slow. Dinner came out over 15 min between 4 diff runs. The owner couldn't even come to the table to apologize. Will not be going back.

They can't stop you from ordering steaks and a glass of water. But overall, its not a quality steak. Really poor quality.

of all the places we go we r never disappointed at any location- my table had the filet mignon sandwiches, burgers, flounder and the soups- french onion is my fav like it here the most- we all enjoyed our meals always plenty of condiments and large portions to be full and have for a meal at home- egg nog martini very good too-and one of the few places that still put something complimentary on the table always enjoy the pickles and pasta salad my kids could make a meal out of that alone

Last night we went to the Rocky Point location with 13 people to celebrate our son's 24th birthday! Everything turned out wonderful due to the extraordinary efforts of our waitress Denise! She was super friendly, professional and excellent in every way! If you go, definitely ask for Denise, as she stands out above the rest!!

J & R has amazing food at incredibly reasonable prices at all their locations. Lunch and dinner are equally a good value. We miss the pot roast -hope they bring that back - also miss the port tenderloin. The apple pie and cheesecake are amazing desserts.
We mostly go the the location near Calverton but have been to all of them and they are all great!

First time visiting this restaurant since it was Big Barry's Restaurant for lunch
and the food and portions are tremendous. Best grilled porkchop I have ever had.
Apple pie delicious but would have liked it warm. JR's Steaksauce is must to try.

Casual reasonable dining. Large portions, great deals every day.
Huge restaurant with huge parking lot. Also serves golfers, it's on the golf course, right on Rt25A.
Lots of "special deals", check online, it's a huge menu.
My favorite is marinated rib or skirt steak, and the RACK OF LAMB is as good as other restaurants at double the price.

Good food a a certainly reasonable price. Service was. Alttle slow the night we were there, but it was late in the evening so that didn’t surprise me. We definitely will dine there again.

My husband and I often went to J&R's in Stony Brook, but it closed after severe damage after a storm. I was our "go to" place and we missed it!
We decided to try the one in Rocky Point recently and were so very disappointed. We sat in an area with about 9 tables near the kitchen. Whenever a table was bused, the plates sounded as if they were thrown down onto the collection area near the kitchen! Crashing sounds all during the entire meal. Couldn't carry on a conversation!
I specifically asked about what was in the salad since I only eat iceberg or romaine lettuce. I was assured no other greens were in it. When it came out, I made a pile of some kind of greens in the bread dish, leaving me little salad. I asked if it could be changed to a Caesar salad. That arrived and tasted like vinegar. It was awful! Couldn't eat it either. (J&R's salads were always fresh and delicious!)
Steaks came. Hubby and I both ordered medium rare. His came out flawless. Mine overdone. I was too hungry to complain and the service was at a snail's pace, but when the waiter finally came to see if everything was ok, I showed him the steak. Well, he agreed, and offered another . . . no deal, it was getting late. The best part is when he said my husband's steak was a bit thicker! I'm thinking you wouldn't cook them for the same duration if one is thicker than the other!
Will never go back.
Terrible that it owns such a reputable name!
