Been going there for over 20 years. Great atmosphere. I have had English friends that work there. A nice, relaxed pub.

Very fun place to eat or drink. Only place I know of that has Scotch Eggs on the menu. And they tasted good, too. Everyone else had fish and chips and were satisfied with their choices. Just watch out for the parking. It's all parallel park and strange no parking times.

The wait staff is British. They will love you or ignore you depending on their mood. The huge choice of beers, ales and ciders makes food almost irrelevant. When you get to it it will be ok.

The first time I came here I was unimpressed. The shepherd's pie was bland, even for British food, and the restaurant was dirty. Even though they weren't busy, the server was inattentive. After mentioning this to friends, they convinced me I must have hit a bad night and that it would be worth another try. Tonight I gave it another... More

We used to love going to The Old Toad years ago, but we stopped because it was was way too smoky inside, back before they outlawed smoking in bars and restaurants. So this was our first trip back, and we were "sort of" impressed, although not highly. Our waitress was nice, but the food took a long time to come... More

A great, relaxed atmosphere that is cozy but not crowded welcomes you. The bar is traditional pub style and the wall decor is fun to take in. If you are into beers or whiskies, the menu is excellent. A great place to chill out, laugh, have a few drinks. The food is purely British, as promised. When made properly it... More

I've just been to New York with a mate of mine. Anyway, I couldn't go all that way without visiting Rochester and the infamous Old Toad My mates call me 'the slimy old toad' so I just had to visit this place. They've even made a song about me (to the tune of ole king Cole) It goes like this:... More

The Old Toad is an authentic English Pub, well as authentic as you can get outside of Briton. The employees are students in the hotel and food industry in England and are here as interns. At least that is what they tell me. We had fish and chips which were very good and very good beer. Al in all we... More

We've enjoyed the Old Toad in the past. ..a neighborhood favorite. Tonight they win the dubious distinction as the worst dining experience we have ever had. That's saying a lot - we are frequent diners. The waitress brought us a beer list and disappeared. I thought I heard her say she'd be back in fifteen minutes but my husband heard... More
