Spent the morning at Charlotte Beach and while driving to work I passed this place and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce which came with a fortune cookie and a won ton soup. Overall, it was a nice little meal and I would give the place another try

Very good chinese take out

I've gone to the New East Star restaurant for several years and have never been disappointed in the quality of their food. They do have a couple of tables but they are mostly a take out service. The prices are reasonable and they provide a fast service when they take your order averaging about 15 minutes. By the time I hang up the phone after calling in my order and driving down the order is ready for me. Highly recommend.

I love the food here. i have always had fresh ingredients here and my orders have always been delicious. I'm a huge fan of their soups and Mei Fun is my go to dish. They do NOT skimp on the ingredients. I don't like greasy foods and their food is light without even a trace of oil. Family owned and local. It's outstanding!

History of serving spoiled meat...

They sold me spoiled, rotten chicken... It was awful! I ordered at 9:15pm on a Thursday and the kid delivered it at roughly 10pm.This wasn't a case of fresh food sitting for too long though. I assumed the offensive odor was the mushrooms but as soon as i bit into the chicken it became VERY clear what the source was. If you have ever had spoiled chicken, you know it tastes and smells like death. Since the place was closed I just called 10mins ago and spoke to the kid whom delivered it last night. I explained the situation, he told the owners, then came back on to ask me to bring the food in. Totally fine if I had a vehicle. (hence the need for delivery) Then it was followed by "So what did you want us to do?" REALLY!? Over $20 and a bad attitude you lose a long-time customer. The bite of spoiled chicken made me nauseous but their indignant attitude is worse. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Chef smoking in plain view INSIDE restaurant

My husband and I were looking for a new chinese restaurant to try in our local neighborhood and after getting gas in the Pattonwood plaza pulled up to 'New Star East'. Without ever getting out of the car we saw one of the employee's (who was dressed in a chef's uniform) smoking! INSIDE the restaurant. Absolutely disgusting. Completely and utterly turned off at ever stepping foot in this business.
