I love everything about this place, the clay pot dishes are excellent. Great Peking Duck. Service can be a little challenging but more than made up for by Chinese food that is head and shoulders above anything else in the Rochester area. Try the take out, I think it reflects the quality of ingredients and preparation that it still tastes... More

This Is the type of Chinese restaurant for business lunches, for meeting clients, etc. I brought my wife here on a lunch date. The food was top-shelf, we loved the hot and sour soup, and the entrees made us want to return in the future. The price was very reasonable; however, this is a 'better-grade' establishment, the kind of place... More

I have been to Chen Garden a few times. Tried about a dozen dishes. Seems to be kinda hit or miss with the food and the service. Some dishes were okay, not outstanding and the service can be quick or sometimes slow. I haven't found a reason to make it my go to Chinese, but give it a try it's... More

Loved the food. We just got lucky and picked it out of a visitor magazine. The menu has pictures so you can see which vegetables are in the dish and then you can pick which meat you want. We are planning to return this year when we are in Rochester.

A very nice place to eat. The restaurant was a little dark for my taste, it reminded me of a bar in a way (which they do have there). But the food was delicious, with large portions. Waitress was friendly and efficient.

Dined there over 50 times. Family, business lunches, parties etc. incredibly fast service and the quality of the menu far supasses every other Chinese restaurant i've ever tried be it Rochester, NY, Naples, Fl.and three or four other cities as well. My all time favorite is the pork and scallions. I'm not normally a big fan of Chinese cusine as... More

Whenever I'm in Rochester, I go to Chen Garden for the scallion pancakes. The restaurant is sorely in need of a makeover in terms of updated furniture (all the booths are sagging in the cushion department). It's in a strip mall with limited parking. However, if you like basic Asian food like fried rice or lo mien, it's very good... More

Americans who don't like this place have probably never eaten Chinese food in actual China. Overall, the preparations here were more like real Chinese food than almost any other Chinese joint we've eaten at in the US. Menu was extensive and service was excellent; prices were extremely reasonable.

My table ordered 6 dishes. 3 were average and the other 3 were below average. The pad thai was mushy and very saucy, not good. The vegetables stir fried in garlic an oil was good; but, how can they mess that one up. The Chinese beef stew was good but salty. The white rice was mushy.......The staff did not seem... More

For dinner order Hot and Sour Soup - terrible - loads of white button mushrooms, no tofu, no elephant ears, noting but mushrooms and very little diluted broth which was cool at best. No hot nor sour taste. Beef broth and white button mushrooms...if I wanted mushroom soup I would have ordered it. The steamed dumpling were pastt, gummy, Luke... More
